Done mine a few weeks back and the inners were a nightmare, i used longer bolts 45mm x M8. also removed the brackets that hold the bushes in place and very slightly elongated the hole. Spent most of the time scratching my head and swearing. Outers are very easy

Looking at those pictures i would say you have an oil leak and its blowing along the underside of the car between the heatshield and body. Check the underside of the engine block for oil.

Iirc a chap called Tom.C on here had a similar noise and it turned out to be a severely cracked exhaust manifold... fine one minute then pop the noise came.

K-tec uses a better quality filter than the cheapo ebay specials. the best option would be an itg or Ramair open cone as these will generate a better sound
