waterpump is on the other side of the engine to where the gearbox is.. drivers side >waterpump/stroke rad or bottom hose...
passenger side >thermostat housing,top hose and others around it or stuffed rad
172/182 or 1.2 etc?????
Change the rear shoes and put a new fitting kit on too..
Bet the springs are apex or similar cheap brand if so the first two coils on the springs are rubbing together hence the squeaking the thudding etc is also down to the springs ..Try and buy some springs that are progresivly wound like...
I used one of the above things from ebay when my circlip popped.
It worked a treat for the two years i kept the car!! 4.1mm jobber drill bit and an M4 tap is needed to refit..also helps if you stick a magnet to the diff near where you are drilling to catch the swarf then flush the box through...

Put the lube on the gearbox input shaft (the splined bit where the friction plate sits)
Also pays to put some on the clutch fork pivot cap thats attached to the bell housing
don't get carried away with the lube though.
They will fit but i wouldn't advise it due to the point Owen made above about the dci engine being very heavy, Sport springs work well due to the stiffer ratio
