Youll be lucky now mate...
Just worn out a pair of S02s on mine and the rears are still good, but went for Toyo Proxes to replace them as the Bridgestones are now impossible to get and not cheap.
Superb handling, well built, looks nice, but not as quick as they could be...
Thought about one myself, as they are pretty cheap on an import, but decided against it.
Guy at work has an RS and I park near/next to it a lot...
Looks hard as nails in the flesh and theres an ST170 here too, which just looks crap in comparison.
A bloke near my house has just got one too now.
Agreed...
On the road the standard brakes are more than good enough and even on track, they cope quite well. Possibly go for a better pad such as the Mintex M1144s but thats all you need.
That aint exactly conclusive evidence...
My mate also caned his 172 from day 1 and that is not as quick as it "should" be!
All engines are different and give different power outputs, its just the way it is. Not just 172s either, although there seems to be a lot of difference.
Oops...
I managed to break one of the springs on the clutch plate when I had my 106 GTi and it mashed the plate and cover, needing new items.
Wasnt until about 42k miles though!
Agreed...
The Clio driver was clearly better than the guy in the CTR and Id have liked to have seen it if the 2 drivers swapped over and went again. My guess, the CTR would be in front then, purely due to driver skill.
As Ive said many a time, driver skill can (& does) make a lot of...
LOL seems a few of us are doing this lately!
Thats some hefty transmission loss though...
Works out as a 23.1% loss, which is high for a fwd car, although it is only a calculation and not an actual.
Good work beating the ITR though! ;)
Kind of...
Basically, from Aug 1992 (K Reg) pretty much all cars had cats fitted from the factory (some eariler) as there were more stringent emissions tests introducedd and most cars needed the cat to pass.
However, if a post 92 car can pass the emissions test come MOT time even without a...
Since when?!
There is no law that states that a car MUST have a cat, only that is must pass an emmisions test when MOT time comes.
So, if that car can meet the required emmisions levels without a cat then there is no problem and its all perfectly legal.
Ive had a go at VTRs in our 1.4 RT and they aint much quicker...
Remember, the early ones were only 90bhp and the later ones 98bhp, so the RT aint far off power wise and weighs a little bit less.
Yeah, very difficult to get it just right, so theres no (or minimal wheelspin) or if you get it to bog down slightly, although in a mk2 the "fly by wire" throttle will help there.
I found that after a bit of practice I could get it right every time...
