    Car sluggish with sub on

no i like anything that works, and i think i've proved they don't

    Car sluggish with sub on

putting it in parallel? still going to do the same wherever you wire it

    Car sluggish with sub on

lol the cap has a resistance of about 0.005 ohms(2.4kA at 12v) an awful lot lower than most amps thats why you have to charge them so you don't weld the power cable to them. putting a resistor in is going to negate everything the cap is supposed to be doing

most amps are "12v" but the outputs are given at 14.4v look at 80% of the amps on that site. also how big is the diode you got on the (cap output?)?
  5. Dink

    Car sluggish with sub on

no but look at most amps outputs are measured at 14.4v the cap will have a lower resistance than the amp so current will flow the greatest at the lowest resistance inother words the cap and not the amp

lol .7 of a volt is loads when we are talking amp out put (look here whats that 30watts diff if only 2.4volts) and not matter where the cap is connected it will pull it away from the amp as it has a lower resistance

    Car sluggish with sub on

that is the only way to wire it up (if it is connected to vehicle electrical system it will pull power from everything) how will diodes help?? (and they have a .7v volt drop don't you know)

    Car sluggish with sub on

it is in line with the amp power supply though? it is just extra load on the electrical system. and after the first note of a couple of bass notes it actually takes power away from the amp

what from a slow ass battery/alt;)

dansta a simple equation 746w = 1hp not really smart just remember lots about car audio

    Car sluggish with sub on

well a 1F cap holds 200J roughly @ 14v (watts = J/s) so that will run a 1000 watt amp for a fifth of a sec But that is if discharged to 0v which it won't it will only go down to about 12.5v which means it will have about 22J which is f**k all and most of that will be lost because of the esr of...

lol now we've killed one thread you don't want me to kill this one explaining why caps don't work do you lol

Running in a sub? do you?

did you not read this part;) and yes a sub will die if you drive the amp running it in to clipping, put too much power into it. playing a freq that is below the boxes tuning freq(ported boxes only).

it's called volt drop and cannot be stopped(even happens in your house switch the kettle on and watch the lights)

Running in a sub? do you?

lol wtf are they on about the coil has a positive tempreature co-effiency so the hotter it gets the hight the resistance thus less power going through it so less heat. it levels off with it's max power so it won't break distort whatever. and i sound like to me he played a pure tone through a...

power supply rejection of the amp is far in excess capable of taking what the vehicle voltage has to give. i aint seen no real pro's use them

no i was talking about the spider

effiency mate you better be running a class A if your pulling 80A oh that is 400w output with a 75% effiency and caps don't work (might get a little use out of a 20F one)

Running in a sub? do you?

the amount of varnish they put on the coils it aint ever going to deform with giving it full power running in just loosens up the suspention so it will move a little easier after it is run in

    Car sluggish with sub on

45 amps is a medium amount of extra power to be pulling from the electrical system so nothing to worry about
  21. Dink

Running in a sub? do you?

best way to run it in is give it full power from the start it's is only that the sound changes ever so slightly after running in it is capable of full tilt strait out of the box
  22. Dink

    Car sluggish with sub on

your running a 400w amp, that amp is driving the sub so the sub could be a 4TW sub but will still only get the 400w from the amp which if RMS is only about 45 amps drawn from the electrical system

yeah i was just wondering how much the voltage regulator was

how much did cost? if you don't mind me asking

    Sub and Speaker noise

no wonder you lost your back window with about 2.7kW output lol
  27. Dink

Converted Playstation 2 to 12 volt

just a guess on how you did it. as that would give a sweet 12v dc to the ps2 with minimal componets

5A TO-3 case positive voltage regulator?

    Sub and Speaker noise

ground fault 99.99999999999999999% of the time rca's and power cables next to each other making it = urban myth hell i zip tied my rca's to my power cables and have the remote coming down the middle of the rca's and that with a peak of about 130A being drawn by the amp and i get f**k all noise

Have you bloted/fixed your sub in?

do as i say not do as i do. no mine is just placed of the supports for the false floor:o. this is a really bad idea and you should always properly secure(not velcro) any I.C.E that is in the boot
