The Samco is better than the Hill Power since it has the breather pipe and aslo from what I've heard a little more sturdier. Also the diameter of the samco is 80mm from airbox to throttle where as the standard one goes down to 60mm in the middle.
I had a mk2 172ff with eibach springs. After running a couple of different cars for a few years, I now have a Trophy. The Trophy is leagues a head in the handling department. Though the Trophy is way more composed and can carry more speed through the turns, I think from what I remember the...
You'll notice more in the first 3 gears when booting it to the redline, though some people notices it more than others, perhaps due to mods to induction, remap or exhaust, can't say for sure.
Trust me, you need a bigger car than a Megane and at least with rear passenger doors! Trying to get a rear facing car seat plus baby in a 3 door hatch is gonna do your back in trying to get it in the back, especially as the child gets bigger!! Plus I guarentee there will be stains, be it food...
I know its a bit over priced and possibly too far away, but I think this one has a BTB exhaust. How do I know? Because this was the dealership I bought my Trophy which had this exhaust and asked the dealership to put back on the standard exhaust. They must have swapped it around. This was before...
Bare in mind that the induction hose to the throttle housing is only around 70mm (I think, the aftermarket samco hoses slightly bigger 80mm) so you'll hit a point of diminishing returns from using bigger hoses to the airbox which could affect performance negatively. I'm by no means an expert...
Be aware that172 Cups don't have the comforts of a FF172/182 or even that of a 182 Cup, eg air con, ABS, however they are 89kg lighter for it and hence a little more "focused". I think you're mind will be made up as soon as you've driven one!!
Incidently, what do the 206 gti forums advise??
Yes the factory furry hose is glued on and a b1tch to take off!. sorry, what I meant was the plastic bit of the old caf which clips into the airbox and the bit you;ll fix the new hose to. You'll see when you come to fit it.
Oh and one other thing. The plastic fitting for the side intake pointis upwards slightly in the original factory install. I have the fitting upside down pointing downwards instead into the space in the wing for the modification to keep the intake as straight as possible.
The plastic fitting for the bottom intake is 50mm and space is tight under the airbox. The original hose was pretty squashed under there. The new 50mm alloy hose is rigid enough to stay in shape and not distort.
60mm was a tight fit (really tight!) but had a look on the venairsport site and they do a 63mm which would be perfect. Get some jubilee clips to fix it on the the original plastic fitting.
Space it still quite tight so the hoses need to be durable. Some people have managed to fit 75mm hose down the side, not sure how as I found 60mm difficult enough. The flimsy hoses from diy stores may not be able to sqeeze in the space without deforming. The original 50mm hose for the lower...
I used a 60mm BMC Alloy hose.

I also used a 50mm Pipercross alloy hose for the lower intake

I used the existing plastic fittings to the airbox just replaced the cr@p Renault furry...
I don't know the circumstances as to why they wern't coverd and those are Renault UK prices. The irony is that you also have a Renault with the same level of warrenty! You have a strange sence of humour if that makes you p1ss yourself!
No one is telling you to buy Sachs!! so you're...
I think someone on this board has already contacted Renault recently for some warrenty work as was told that the shocks weren't covered by warrenty and was told that each shock would be £1200. Not sure if that included VAT, but if it didn't that would push it up to £1400. You want the best, you...
I'm not sure if the Cups came with the RS inlet manifold. From what I've heard, some late 172's had them, most 182 have them and all trophies have them. You could try and feel for the lettering on the 2 middle inlets or if you can get a small camera down there like from a phone to see.
Doesn't mean the design cannot be improved upon! If you want save your ears and keep it EU noise compliant, then by all means keep it on. I'm willing to sacrafice a slight increase in noise for a bit more performance for a little effort and for little or no cost.
For me since the removal of the AV, the 5K kick is even more pronounced, especially in 2nd gear! It's running so much better with it removed, thought induction noise has increased ever so slightly.
Do you have proof that it was the bin men that caused the problem. Do you have witnesses or did the bin men admit liability? If not it could prove to be a alot of hassle and no doubt time consuming (it is the council after all!!) Get a quote for the repairs and weigh up the cost against the...
