    182 Help

I think to prevent stone chips you'll have to invest in something like this: http://www.autoshieldpaintprotection.co.uk/shop/cars/IPRN009B

    Ive got £3k to spend!

My friend has been running his 211bhp Glanza for several years with no reliability problems. As long as the modifications are sensible, they are just as reliable as Renualts if not more so. Thats Japanese build quality for you!

    Ive got £3k to spend!

For around £3k, you won't go much faster than a Glanza. Even at this price you'll see some with uprated turbo's, ECUs, intercoolers, brakes, SS exhaust and coil overs, LSDs etc and many pushing out between 160-200bhp depending on the mods. Just look on Pistonheads to see what I mean. As to...

    Ive got £3k to spend!

For 3K, I'd go for the Glanza. 1.3 turbo, loads of aftermarket parts, light weight (900kg) massively tunable! Standard they're 134bhp and 0-60 under 7 secs. Most come imported modified in someway or another. A friend has a '98 211bhp Glanza and needless to say, is mega fast and can blitz...

    182 Help

I came from a 325i Sport (e46) to Clio Trophy and haven't looked back. Yes the BM is a great car, solid build, fantastically smooth straight six and rear wheel drive handling. In terms of driver involvement, speed and sheer fun factor, the Trophy is way ahead. Plus with todays petrol prices...

    Which Oil, 172 / 182

Only a small quantity of oil remains in the filter. I've only done a few hundred miles since my last change and the oil is still pretty clear and certainly not enough old oil in the filter to contaminate fresh oil to make any difference. If I was that concerned I'd flush the engine at every...

    Which Oil, 172 / 182

It's not worth changing the oil filter, it wouldn't be that contaminated in 6k miles, the garage will do that in a further 6k miles when it goes in for its scheduled service. Its the oil that gets most contaminated so is changed more frequently. Funnily enough, I hear more and more garages...

I don't think either the Yozza or the BTB match that criteria!!

    Which Oil, 172 / 182

I've extracted around 5 litres of oil from my motor using this device. Roughly the same amount when changing the oil the usual way. It may cost more, but its less hassle and complete oil change done in 15 minutes, no oil on the drive, or mucky hands, no need to go under the car or jack the car...

    Interesting oil facts #3

Not wishing to cause an arguement, but merely to discuss, would you notice the benefits that warrant the expense of a ester based oil over a cheaper (ie Halfords/Comma fully synth) hydrocracked oil, especially if oil is changed every 6k or in the case of the average owner who keeps his/her car...

    Which Oil, 172 / 182

I use a pela oil extractor. No need to get under the car or worry about sump plugs. Makes oil changes a doddle. http://www.pelapumps.co.uk/default.aspx?A10PAGE=PL6000

    Acoustic valve...

The valve is located behind the front passenger side wheel arch lining. Theres a guide on the ClioTrophy.co.uk forum here: http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1592&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=acoustic+valve&start=60

Brand new designed 182 exhaust by Scorpion

There is a rubber mount for the center section. You may be able to get rubber bits separately from the parts dept at a Renault dealership, I don't know for sure. I did a little guide on how to fit this system. You can find it here: http://www.cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5723

Brand new designed 182 exhaust by Scorpion

The Scorpion uses the standard mounts. I didn't replace the mounts and fitment was pretty straight forward. The only thing I didn't get with the system were the clamps which were supposed to come with the system.

    Milltek Exhaust for 182

IMO the Scorpion is a great system and is well made. I fitted the system myself and I'm a complete novice when it comes to diy mechanics. Sealed all the joins with firegum so there is no chance of it blowing and sits nicely in the bumper cut outs. I've had the system on the car just over a week...

    Milltek Exhaust for 182

I have the new Scorpion system and is similar to the Milltek system but is £350 inc vat and delivery and not too difficult to fit yourself and is a quiet system.

    FF missuse.

A "ph 172" doesn't cover squat!! besides I did say ".....since we're on dietry terminolgy,".....:rasp:

    FF missuse.

The ones with the alu bonnets were the first 172's I believe and weighed 1035kg.
  19. JonC

    FF missuse.

Well since we're on dietry terminolgy, the MK1 172 were lighter than the full fat 172's so should be termed 172 lite or diet 172.!

    FF missuse.

    HEY! Cups Schmups! Lets not forget the Trophy!!! ;) And just for the record, there's no such thing as FF, there's: PH1 172 PH2 172 172 Cup 182 182 plus Cup packs 182 Cup 182 Trophy 197 197 F1 R27 197 Cup

    CAF trumpet size for 182

If you are using the standard airbox and are attaching the CAF to the airbox like http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/files/dsc00113_195.jpg then the hose is I think 63mm, though I did manage to use a 60mm alloy hose, but it was a tight fit and difficult to fit on.

    Halfords own brand oil???

Oh and Halfords also do a 5w-50, marketed for enthusiastic/track drivers for the same price. I hazard a guess that its also Comma's oil, the Motorsport 5w-50 oil.

    Halfords own brand oil???

There was a thread on this, possibly on another forum, Halfords oil is actually Comma Syner-G 5w-40 fully synthetic rebranded for Halfords. It meets all the usual industry standards and use it in my car. I very much doubt there is additional benefit in using more expensive stuff if it meets...

    Yozza Road Fitting

I used Holts Firegum bought from Halfords when I fitted my exhaust. It swells and sets when exposed to heat.

Brand new designed 182 exhaust by Scorpion

I thought £350 including delivery is pretty reasonable compared with other pre made systems already out there. According to their rolling road figures, a decat only yeilds a futher 1-2 bhp and IMO not worth the cost or the hassle come MOT unless you want a louder system. Y and B said they did...

Brand new designed 182 exhaust by Scorpion

It's a CAT back version. It is only slightly louder than the standard system in normal driving, however, when you put your foot down it really sounds quite bassy and rorty which isn't reflected fully in the video. I did video a number of runs with the standard system and overall, the Scorpion...

    182 Exhaust

I got my self a Scorpion RS192 last week and being a complete novice, fitted it myself, and proud to say I think I did a good job, even it took me about 4 hours. I've done a write up on it with piccies and a short video to demonstrate the sound. Read it here...

    Stainless 182 Exhaust?

Theres also the Scorpion RS192 exhaust. Probably the closest to a standard system. Dual silencer rear boxes and silenced centre section, not much louder than standard apparently. I'll be gettnig mine next week from www.rs192.co.uk.

    Bumps and handling 182

I sort of know what you mean, theres a sort of a what I can only describe as a slight "wobble" when attacking some sweeping bends on a B road. I normally feel this when going left. My theory is since there is usually no passenger when I'm having fun in the car, the passenger side is lighter...
