Hello.
Plenty of 197\200s on Autotrader but the last time I looked a decent 200 started around 5000 I think. A 197 Cup would be a good option but I think the later cars are the ones to have so their prices are high too.
Mind you, you see people selling 197s for 3.5k etc. No doubt they need...
If you keep a close eye on all the usual Breakers you will find what you are looking for. As soon as they get a 1*2 in these are snapped up ASAP so you need to be quick!
I think we all want to see Clios fetch good money mate. Just look at it as constructive criticism 😁
Im sure a climate panel isnt much at all. Check BTT Motorsport on E Bay etc.
The rear door cards are a bit of a hassle as you need to remove the rear seat base. I managed to get my door cards out with the rear seat back in place.
If I were you I wouldn’t bother about the inner rear arches. Lets see a close up of all along the outer arches including where the bumper...
Completely agree. No one is knocking Crazy Legs car or expecting him to remove bumpers etc.
You can get a good view of most of the usual suspects for rust without even jacking the car up.
Crazy Legs can’t be expected to ask for 6k for a standard 182 and not have the car come under intense...
To achieve top money I'd like to see pics of the usual corrosion points. I'm thinking Filler Cap, Sills, Jacking points, Rear Spring Mounts, Rear Arches etc.
Thanks for the kind words.
Ive spent a fair bit of time and money trying to eliminate all the silly little Clio specific niggles that a lot of other cars seem to have. I looked at loads before I bought this one and my brother has two Clios so I have a little bit of experience to call upon now...
Unless you are tackling rust etc I'd be inclined to get the mechanical work done first Ian. Id far rather have a mechanically sound Cup that wasnt 100% perfect cosmetically rather than a car that looked mint but drove like a boat !
Also want to check for leaks too, boot grommets are only a few quid to replace and likely culprits to let water in.
I forgot to mention splitter and boot struts, another two expensive items.
I've spent the past year doing pretty much what you are planning.
First thing to check is how much rust there is on the shell? All the points worth checking are well documented on this very forum. Im thinking Sills, rear arches, fuel filler etc.
If the car has an original interior then you...
Im no expert but surely it’s worth more than £1000 even with a blown engine ??
What would it cost to replace the engine for a new buyer ? Well under £1000 which means that they end up with what looks like a pretty decent Cup for under 2k.
Sounds good to me.
Another update today. Just back from my local exhaust place, Stainless Creations (Great bunch of guys) who were fitting an used, standard exhaust.
I was getting tired of the drone of the KTEC so thought I’d experiment with a standard exhaust. Managed to pick this one up for next to nothing so...
In an effort to finally get the warning lights off on the dash, the car was booked in with the guys at SWR in Stirling. They always get good reviews and I had heard good things about their Diagnostic service.
I’m happy to report that all warning lights are now out. EML light was just a...
This is pretty much what my local exhaust place said about the KTEC. Basically, the exhaust bore is about an inch bigger than it needs to be. But, people associate big exhausts with power/speed so if they made the exhaust smaller people wouldnt buy it.
Hi,
Im afraid I dont know. My local exhaust place supplied and fitted the sports cat. I’m sure it just bolted straight in but I’m afraid I can’t be certain.
Cheers.
Hi guys,
I want to remove this seat belt temporarily. Is it safe for me to just undo the bolt ? It is connected to a red wire which I assume I need to unplug also.
cheers.
Yeah, you are right. Stealth is nothing to do with noise. Its supposed to be Stealth as in "not seen". I agree with you though, its rare to see a KETC that is actually totally hidden from view.
I've got the KTEC Stealth with the center silencer and sports cat and the noise is perfect for driving around town etc but I find it way too boomy on the Motorway etc. Im used to driving new cars so my guess is that people used to "modified" would probably think the noise is acceptable.
