I think you would be wise to place a heatshield between the exhaust and tank. I know the standard exhaust on my Cup gets pretty hot during normal road use. I think finding any heatshield that is in good nick for a 172 or 182 can prove difficult.

I dont see much wrong with the Washer blanks. I think with that mileage there is no doubt the car is worth a lot of money. You simply have to MOT the car or there is absolutely no way you will realise the full potential, value wise.

Sounds like a door sensor is on the blink or something similar, i.e. the door thinks its closed when its not and vice versa. Im actually sure there is a section on central locking and troubleshooting in the Manual. Well, there is on a Mk2.

Really struggling to think of an interesting Estate car around 5-6k to replace the Clio. I’ve also spent a lot of time and money getting the Clio to a point where is in a really good state which is making me reluctant to move it on. Anyone got a set of roof bars ? ;-)
