Thats a cracking route. I know some of those roads quite well now after many trips across the moors from Penrith to Hexham on my way up from Chester.Unfortunately I'll be in East Yorkshire on Monday. But I will be doing some interesting roads on the way across as the Snake Pass is on my way to...
The last two trips up there on weekends I've seen police patrolling that road. I passed another marked patrol car on my way back which might have been the one that was at the ponderosa just after Llyn Brenig coming from the direction of Ruthin. Its much quieter during the week and far less...
I hope Mr Plod weren't too heavy handed! I need to get some better tyres on the 17" rims or sell them. The grip wasn't that great on Nankangs. Some more Toyo's are needed.
Well that turned into a bit of a farce. PC Plod were patrolling the "triangle" in an unmarked Skoda estate. Unfortunately two of the front runners overtook the car before they realised it was a police car and ended up getting pulled. We waited for them to catch us up twice but not sure whether...
I did the Warrington one a few years ago. By the time you've done all the heats you'll know about it. I found it very tough on the arms and the lack of grip on certain parts of the track makes it very tricky. I'd prefer a tarmac outdoor track tbh.
Was anyone from here at Oulton Park yesterday? I spotted a couple of Clio's coming in when I was on post at Water Tower. A very good days racing but some nasty crashes to deal with. We had a big crash in the second GT race that started at Water tower but ended up right in the middle of Druids...
I bought my 172 after having a Fiat Cinquecento Abarth for a couple of years which was fun to drive but nowhere near as fast as the Clio and didn't handle anywhere near as well either. I sold the Fiat and bought a Citroen Xsara 1.6 hatchback. It was one of the worst cars I've ever owned. The...
I keep mine on normal tyre pressures. 32 front and 29 rear. Renaultsport cars are built for the track so no need to worry about them not taking the abuse. Mine has done 12 track days in the 2 and a half years I've owned it. Its got 112,000 miles on it now and its still as quick as it was when I...
Weekdays are farbetter for this run. I did a recce for the run last saturday on the previous wednesday on my own and the roads were a lot quieter. I'll be going up to Northumberland this coming weekend so will be taking the A686 over Hartside from Penrith to Hexham again but not in the Clio...
I went back over Llandegla. Caught up to the red megane at llandegla crossroads but he got head start on me as lights changed. Eventually overtook him and three other cars between Leeswood and penyffordd station.
I really enjoyed the run. Sorry about the dust on the back roads! They're a lot more fun that sticking to main roads all day ! If any of you get up to Cumbria at all I recommend driving up to Penrith and taking in the A686 over Hartside Pass and going across to Northumberland then back down...
Pmr radios are fairly cheap and dont need a licence. It's best to shop around though and buy the most powerful ones as the less powerful ones have a fairly limited range. They are much better now than a few years ago. As for using them to close roads off I really don't think that's legal. You...
I think next time I'll bring some PMR radios so that the convoy can stay in communication. I have a set of 4 so could spread between lead car back runner and one other.
parking in LLangollen tomorrow will be a nightmare if its another nice day. There's a car park near the Horseshoe falls down a back lane which is free at the back of the Chain Bridge hotel. Went there last week for a run out. It's at LLantysilio near the church.Plenty of space there but its away...
If your rad is leaking a bit get a bottle of radseal and get it put in now. Its looking like a warm day tomorrow so you don't want cooling problems. It will seal any small leaks and doesn't block the cooling system up.
Went for run round EVO triangle on Wednesday then across to Llangollen and Horseshoe Pass then back to Chester over Llandegla Moors. Took back roads through Clocaenog from Ruthin, superb roads but very twisty and narrow. Took about 2 and half hours to do route from Chester and back again...
That route looks good. I often go over the A686 from Penrith to Hexham and back again so know a lot of the route well . Another superb road to consider is the military road from Greenhead to the A68 just above Corbridge along Hadrians Wall. Yuo could cut across from Haydon Bridge up the A69 to...
Some impressive videos and photos. Sorry I couldn't come with you but it was nice to meet some of you before you all went off. Looking forward to next meet.
Belkin do a good iPhone holder. Available in large Tesco stores. Cant remember how much but think approx £9.99. They rotate so they can be used horizontal or vertical.
