TBH repairing yourself isnt any easy option unless you have access to a jig to pull the damage out. Its likely to have pushed the chassis leg back and unless thats sorted the car is never going to be right.
Mine has 102,000 miles on it now and it still drives like its new. Its had services at every10,000 since I've had it. Other than upgrading all the brakes and tyres its just been run of the mill stuff otherwise as with any car. As everyone else says,as long as its looked after properly the car...
I'd buy and sell on here. Also Renaultsport forum is useful for selling and buying cars and parts. If anyone offered me the right money I'd consider selling my 172.I've spent quite a lot on it since buying it 2 years ago and its really reliable and relatively cheap to run.
It stops warm air being drawn into the A/C system and makes the air nice and cool .I had the recirculate button on the van all day yesterday and was nice and cool even when it was baking outside.
I use my aircon every time I drive the car and still get good MPG. Getting 36+ on a decent run . Its b****x that aircon uses loads more fuel. I have it on all day driving my taxi as well and still get good MPG on that as well. You should use it regularly to avoid problems with it. The seals dry...
Its fairly likely to be the a wheel bearing. They make a helluva racket when they get really bad. I had 2 go on mine within the first 3 months of buying the car.
If any of you want a decent remapping done get in touch with a very good mate of mine. He doesnt remap standard ECU's but will map pretty well most aftermarket ones.

I keep my engine cover on. It stops any damp getting to the plug leads and coil pack. I've just fitted an engine damper on the car which meant I had to cut the cover to fit round the mounting bracket. The cover has never rattled and won't if its screwed on properly.
That'll be a write off sorry to say. The back end will be twisted judging by the big crease in the rear quarter and where the rear wheel is sitting in relation to the wheel arch. Make sure you get a doctors report for whiplash etc. I'd start looking around for another car.
My 172 will do 37 mpg on a decent run and on track around 18 mpg. Pretty decent for a high performance car. My friend runs a Subaru Legacy GTB twin turbo and is lucky to see 18 mpg! it drops to about 9mpg if driven hard! The performance is something else but the fuel bills are eye watering!!
That sounds good for 39k on clock. I've just had my insurance renewal for the 172 and its cheaper than my wifes Astra 1.6 automatic 5 door! Was the same last year as well! Strange or what!!
I bought my 172 september 08 and have had so much fun driving it on all sorts of roads and on trackdays. Evo magazine are always banging on about how great the Renaultsport cars are and I have to agree. The Focus is a nice looking car and seems well put together from what I've seen of them but...
I bought my Ph1 172 18 months ago and generally I'm impressed how well the car is put together for a french car. My previous car was a Citroen Xsara which was the worst car I've ever owned. Its the first Renault I've ever owned and I would have another one any day. I'm not so sure that the...
The engine will still be tight for a while until its got decent mileage . Try sticking some Slick 50 in with the oil when you service it. That will help a bit.
Look at EVO mag in the knowledge section and you will find the answer in the specifications. The power to weight ratio for the RS Clio is way better than the Honda. Theres also various videos on Youtube of Clios against Type R's and the clio wins every time.
Whats the point in stripping climate control etc? Get out on track on a stinking hot day and you will very much regret doing it! The best way to save weight without permanent removal is to whip the rear seats out for track days and remove the spare wheel if you have one. The rear seat bases just...
