Garages want £30+ to tell me my cars broke. I know its broke, the ABS light comes on randomly, I just want to know what's broke to see what needs fixing.
Does anyone near Dorking or Luton fancy reading my ABS code for a more reasonable price?
I've dropped my car in for replacement inner tie rods, and they have just phoned me up to say that the parts they have are incorrect.
But...
They have cut the old ones out already so my car is off the road as the parts cannot be delivered until Tuesday!
However, having spoken to them, I'm not...
Its coming from around the carbon canister, or inside the drivers side wheel arch. Its not there all the time, as it stops half way through the video. It speeds up with the revs, and sounds like a popping sound rather than something metallic.
Any ideas? Its been there a while, but I haven't...
So today my car unlocks but doesn't disable the alarm, then won't unlock or lock with the key any more. It also won't turn over, but there is light on the dash. I disconnected the battery to try and stop the alarm going off and there wasn't any sparks or even a fizzle from the positive...
So, after rounding a corner at 50 only to discover a broken down bus, it turns out the ABS light isn't just there to look pretty :p
Mine keeps coming on randomly. It will go weeks without appearing, and then suddenly come on. Sometimes it comes on within minutes of setting off, others (like...
The Parrot MKi9000 is spot on for what I want, dual phone hands free and Bluetooth A2DP music streaming, but its about £100. There seem to be a lot of head units out there for less than £100. Is there a decent sub £100 HU that will do all the Parrot does for my 172?
Anyone know if there are any cheaper than the £50+ ones on Demon Tweaks? While my flat OMP wheel is great, its too far away and swapping for a dished wheel will be quite expensive.
What does this mean in terms of fixing? Expensive? Cheap? Easy to do myself?
I don't really have any idea where I would even look to see the inner steering rack joints?
My car has developed a odd popping sound that you can hear when idling. Its like if you make a popping noise with your lips, and the frequency rises and falls with the engine speed. You can't hear it above about 1500 rpm, but its still there.
Its coming from around my front drivers side wheel...
Is there a permanent fix? My car has just failed the MOT because the tester moved the seat and now the light is on. If I'm lucky I can jiggle them and it will go off, but always seems to come back very soon.
Is there a way to fix them so they don't trigger the light? A proper fix would be...
They don't have the little spring things on like the Ferodo ones, so they have a bit of movement inside the carrier? Is this right? Or have I missed something? Halfway through changing my pads in the brief bit of sunshine we have had this year.
Went to change the disks and found the front pads crumbling away around the edges. It looks like the inside of a digestive biscuit, and breaks away easily. I'm guessing there dead so have ordered some new ones.
What could cause this? The car has been off the road since September so is it just...
I'm seriously considering loosing the back seats in my 172 which is used almost exclusively on track. The only thing stopping me is keeping the boot secure. The back seats combined with the parcel shelf mean you cannot see whats in my boot, which is handy as I keep a lot of tools and things in...
What's a good fluid for track days? I got some more Super Blue to replace what I already have, but have realised its going to be a pain to change blue fluid with blue fluid as I won't know when its cone through. What other suggestions are there for affordable track day fluid?
Got fed up trying to get my carbon blanks to fit, so instead bought a set of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230671053606?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
They work like a charm. They are only slightly larger that the hole in the bumper so dont stand out to much, and they...
With tax due and no need for it until my next track day which isn't going to be until next year I'm going to SORN the Clio and suspend the insurance.
What's the best way to store it? Where it's going to be parked is on a slight slope so I'm going to chock the wheels and leave it in gear. Should...
After replacing one leaking rear shock after only 3000 miles, I've noticed the other is now leaking too.
I've fitted Sportline springs and a Whiteline arb. I've had the arb for ages but the springs are more recent. Is it usual for Sportlines to munch through rear shocks?
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic or someone near Southampton? I'm looking to get my front calipers refurbished, fit some new disks and change the brake fluid, and if I'm honest can't be bothered to find the time to do it myself :).
Looks like I've warped another set of front disks. Or at least done something to them that's created a massive droning vibration. It means I've never gone more than 2 track days on a set of front disks. I warped a set of Renault disks on my 2nd track day, then o. My 3rd had a pad fail which...
Has anyone run wider front tyres than rear on track? I was talking about it at work with a mate and he suggested it might reduce under steer and free up the rear end a bit. For me it would be 205/50/15 on the front and 195/50/15 on the back. Would it make enough of a difference to be worth it...
Thats right ladies and gents, after the roaring success of the Bucket Mod, I have invented my own gardening utensils based Clio modification. I bring you front brake cooling with the use of this beast...
A cheap watering can from your local gardening store!
Actually, if I'm honest, the...
What do people make the brake cooling deflector plates out of if they are using fog light brake cooling ducts? I've seen metal ones and also custom built ones, but I'm after something as cheap and easy as possible.
What kind of temperatures to they have to withstand? Would something like a...
What is the actual difference between the Cup and non Cup rear shocks?
Its clearly not enough for places like K Tec to even differentiate between the two, but apparently they are different?
What difference is there? And is it worth ditching 10k miles old non Cup rears to replace them with...
Can you use a 172 steering wheel chassis on a 182? I know the airbag is a different shape and the 182 has the cruise buttons, but is the chassis under it the same between the cars so you can just put a 182 airbag and buttons on a 172 wheel, or is the wheel different between the 2?
