£80.40 each at mytyres but then have to find somewhere to fit them for a fiver or tenner each. So unless you had somewhere like that to take them you probably havent done too bad considering the last minute nature of purchase.
Im in Kenilworth and always take my Valver to Pete Scale in Leamington for work I cant do like clutch, alternator etc.
Usually charges 25 quid an hour cash in hand with no receipt. Not sure of any places in Cov though. Would be interested to fnd out of any othe rgood places nearby.
Think mine was 80 quid from my local mechanic which was around same as GSF and 1.5-2 hours labour. Think bonnet and possibly headlight had to come out. Helps that they work for 25 quid an hour cash in hand compared to many that are near 50 an hour.
Oh and good luck with oil change. Need tiny hands for filter. Used to get mine done at National Tyres for 15 then 20 quid inc Duckhams QXR as the oil is 20 by itself. They always hated doing it.
As for brands its all down to personal preference. I stupidly drained redline oil out of gearbox and refilled with Millers as it was cheaper. Not as good in operation IMO.
Champion Eons have been best plugs I have used. And of all of tem think engine runs hottest on Mobil 1 Motorsport.
At...
Power increases can be obtained as you will have lost power through worn dizzy, rotor, plugs etc. I wa snoit saying you will get more power, you will be restoring power from what is lost so will be increasing power.
My valver is on 106k nad has never had a problem with additives, usually...
Oil, just get Halfords fully synthetic which is buy one get one free at the mo. Or go to GSF and get Total Quartz semi or fully syntehtic. Filter and plugs too from there. Or Champion EOns I have found work well, but many just use the normal NGKs.
You can check gbox oil level. Haynes...
My £137 was at BB, and they did waterpump at same time too (72k and 6 years old) Didnt want to risk it any longer.
Cant see someone like BB, Ktec, GDI etc asking for much more on the 172.
Oops...
You can risk at and spend over a grand to replace the damage or get it done when you think it needs it and pay...... £137 for valver (not sure what on a 172) but for cheapest go to renault speciaists and not renault.
If it works, for the money which i think is currently 45 quid, you cant go wrong. My NN chip improved drivability and got rid of annoying limiter but at 250 quid. Think they are more now. This or the r tuner going for 100 quid would be my choice for cost effective chipping but r tuner only as...
Haynes manual for valver states 72k or 5 years, whichever is soonest. Whether that info originally comes from Renault, and if newer Renault are the same I dont know.
Best be safe though as think someone on here did there 172 in with that many miles on the clock. Was a post if you search.
My BMC inlet (valver) is approx 83mm so getting some ducting from Demon Tweeks and running to a bumper in air scoop also from Demon Tweeks when I get round and order the stuff.
I am sure there are technical reasons why something can and cannot work. But not everything can be put down to science. You can try something that shouldnt work and it does, and vice versa. Thats how new things are discovered all the time. Im sure teflon was a byproduct of something else...
in answer to driving style and betetr mpg. I drive 26 miles each way to work at same speed and it takes me same time. I do not go over 70 until oil temp is up and then have a period of 80-90 on with rest being 50 and 30 mph. Same every week. Milage per tank increases with it on. Dont change...
People always use this excuse and again its ridiculous. If Maxogens are the best thing for a car, why doesnt everyone use them????? If stainles exhaust are best, again why not on your average car. If the Trophy benefits so much from Sachs dampers, why not a dynamique..... Think you will...
Thats just b****cks. Why would I drive 60k miles differently just to prove something works. Talk sense mate. That is the biggest pile of crap I have heard from someone. I rag it whetehr its on or off, as I get 40 miles more with it on go figure what I do. ALthough from your previous comment...
As I stated on previous post and most of these posts, mine was properly set up at Stelath Racing in Southam, who actually used the fitting guide that I think Nick Read did and is on here or Ecoteks own website.
They installed it properly. How many so called experts on here know what is best...
Renault can tell you. Think I posted it a while back on here and best getting anew one from Renault rather than a used one for only a little less money.
If you want great sound, go for Nakamichi CD400 half price in Halfords. May need to check look of it though as its old skool. Great sound and no flashy lights
FKs. Think H&R are over 500 quid. Contact Performance Driven in Taunton and see if they have any offers on. Got my Valver done there with free fitting 3 years ago and they are still sweet.
Highsport are the non adjustable ones and Konigsport are adjustable (damping). You wont touch the...
Got my supersprint manifold from the for sale forum on here. Seller was a trader and it was brand new for 250 quid. He may be able to get more.
You could probably get regrind cams for 250 quid. Fitting would probably cost around same as the manifold and you should get over 10 bhp increase...
Think general opinion is 1. YES and 2.NO.
Ive got new cams/followers for my Valver and that with headwork is next step if I dont go for 2.0 route. Had many failures sourcing a reasonably priced F7R so you either do the 1.8 to the max inc Cams and Headwork to get most from them or 2.0 and have...
Yeah thought mine had as standard and realised it hadnt when I changed disks as had no sensors. Perhaps one less thing to go wrong and easier for fitting 4 pots.
Think Chip Wizard is most highly rated at 350 quid or then you go into Unichip or SMT territory. Remap only as good as the person doing it so only go somewhere that knows what they are doing.
As an expensive mod worth thinking about cams/headwork before to save another remap down the line if...
