does sound pretty cheap. most things to look for are the obvious really, rusty rear arches, any bodged repair work, all electrics are working, they are prone to failure.
what i did was to cable tie some of the wires together, then use the long zip to (gently!) pull the cables to one side with one hand and push the head unit back with tother.
ive took some pics, the material, has like a plastic rim sewed in to the material which clips onto the metal rim on the underside of the seat, it is glued down too!

i think (not 100% without going outside to check) the material is not actually fixed to the seats in the back, but have elastic in them and stretched over. try and find a local upholsterer, should be able to do it no probs.
thats good, deffo gonna do it, cus my headlights have started dimming a bit after playing the system for a while. ive really taken my time doing bits at a time.
slowly getting there!

think u got it spot on there, i work in a factory where probably 10 out of the 45 shop floor staff actually drive, and the people who dont (men and women) just cant understand why i spend so much time/money on my car.

yeah my mates used to leave crisp packets in the car, used to pee me off, i used to give 2 chaps a lift to work in the car one always had a rucksack and managed to scratch the glovebox, he was apologetic when i pointed it out though. both my mom and my sister do not drive and they both slam the...
anyone done this on a mk 1? ive read that its worth doing, i can see 2 earth cables, but its so tight in the engine bay, i cant see if there are any others? in the valver is the altenator grounded to the chassis?
it is a bit of a generalisation, but generally most women dont think as cars as anything more than an object that gets them from A to B quicker. i doubt it was aimed at the women here because you wouldnt be here if you thought that way:)

not sure if its the same as the origin b2, but what i did was to take off the ciggie type plug, so u have a red (remote lead) and black (earth) wire. attatch an inline fuseholder to the red lead. then on the back of my head unit there was a bullit connector which is an remote live, connect red...
