Williams Clios are not really very costly to run - even with genuine Renault parts. So long as you get a semi decent one.
Bags of fun, and 3 grand will buy a decent one these days - cant ask for better value than that!

WOW Deep!
A special OE tyre was developed for the Lotus Carlton - Goodyear Eagle (not F1) - and the hardcore LC owners still swear by these. However, its for nothing other than originaility. By todays tyre standards theyre way behind on most fronts.
Also, another thing - my last Williams...
All,
I am restoring a Clio Williams 1 and the chap who usually does my bodywork (incidentally the guy who is repairing the last Williams 3 we have) is snowed under - his work is unbelievable but it comes at a price - time. Hes been getting an old AMV in perfect order after a side impact for 6...
If anything level should rise slightly when hot, not drop. As for Renault saying level will sort itself out thats typical! Let it go cold. Top coolant up to the MAX line. Then run it up. Level should be slightly raised.

Make sure the cable is routed correctly. Also its advisable to change the pedal assembly when chaning the cable. The self adjusting mechanism on the pedal can wear and even fail.........
With new pedal/cable and clutch it should be a lot lighter than it was before and stay like it.

Hi,
Whilst its good practice, it rarely damages the big ends. I have only ever come across one Renault 19 16v where a belt broke, it was all rebuilt then about 1000 miles later the ends started knocking.
It is good that you have thought about this, and by all means its excellent practice...
I let the tax on the Lotus lapse (stored for winter, somthing you dont think about!) and have just sent the SORN thing off today....ran out end of dec....
I once had a fine of £25 for not taxing or declaring SORN, when I came to tax it, I got a letter from DVLA few days later saying I was...
BE WARNED!
This is not a good idea. A customer of mine attempted to do a similar thing and ended up the wrong way round on the M40 when the "packing" he had put into the joint worked loose. He had got used to his new found tight steering and when it went loose again he wasnt prepared.
When...
All,
I have recently supplied a customer who has a clio 16v with a leather interior from a Renault 19 16v. I was under the impression that the interior fitted in without problem. However, I have just spoken to the customer on the phone who has told me that the rear bench is not going to fit...
I have just completed the 799 mile round trip collecting this car. 15 hours solid driving.
I must be barking......

ps Eddie, thanks for the transaction and comments....we got there in the end!
Good idea to use an engine building paste, engine lube or similar when re-building. Helps with initial bedding in after startup. I use graphite paste.
If replacing shells, have the crank inspected for ovality and if necessary have it re-ground. You will then need to source +25 oversize...
The new thermostat is causing this - nothing to worry about, better to run it at the correct temperature than too cool. Your old stat may have been open all of the time, hence it taking a long time to warm up....

Whether dealers like imports or not, they are now not at liberty to refuse to service your car the way they would a UK car. Volvo were taken to court over it and lost.
How dare they tell us where we can and cant service our cars, imports or not.
The import jobbies at Trade sales are...
You are buying engineering kudos here more than anything.......
If I were to spend 25k on a brand new car - it would be a mk2 V6.....nothing else comes close to matching my criteria for a toy car in that price league.......
(I continue to read topics on the mk2 V6 with interest, as there is...
