The 10w40 is a thicker oil, but thins more easily when heated.
I thought the 172s use 5w50, which is thinner, and resists further thinning due to heat more that the 40.
Mycroft knows his stuff.
He uses a mix of SUL and Toluene.
Another fuel additive he was using was XYLENE and REDEX.
On the Optimax front, I cant feel the difference between SUL and Optimax, but Im sure I could feel the difference between Premium and Super!
A LSD will only stop one wheel from spinning by transferring the torque to the other wheel, usually the one that travels the furthest difference through a corner. LSDs will not really benefit you in a straight line, well, not with 350bhp and a FWD setup anyway.
Still, 350bhp in a Clio would be...
What would you prefer? Nitrous or a Turbo (or twin turbo would be more sensible in a V6)!
I think nitrous is the best option. A turbo or two in that car would be down right dangerous. No arguments please. :D LOL!
The simple fact is that you cant put more than around 250bhp through the front wheels! If you do the car becomes undriveable. When you put your foot down, the acceleration lifts the front of the car and the weight is transferred to the rear wheels. The front wheels therefore have less weight...
Nitrous bottles should really be mounted pointing towards the front of the car. This is because the liquid in the bottle rushes backwards under hard acceleration.
The HKS car is not road legal and lives in Japan, not UK, and so the the ones from Veilside and Top Secret.
Dave Jones is also the owner of that RS200 and holds the uk 0-60 record with it. Madness!
Theres a few more Skylines that have made it in to Britain.
That GTR is a great car, but it doesnt have 1000bhp!
Its quickest quarter mile time is 10.8 in Britain. There are a few GTRs here that are running in the 9s now!
Well the general opinion is that:
The standard exhaust system is pretty damn good as it is, so how much will an aftermarket one do? Change the torque curve a little because of different backpressure.
Induction kits basically loose you power unless fully shielded (i.e. Viper), and no-one has...
Logic would say that a Unichip or Superchip would be right by the ECU.
If you are worried about warranty issues that would mean you are not doing anything else to the car i.e. exhaust/filter right?
If this is the case why arent you going for the R-SPort ECU? That will be as good as anything...
Yea if you could let me know the outcome please - I was gonna take mine to the dealer, but was wondering how I could show the fault. Cant really corner at 60mph with the guy next to me.
Regards - Laurence
Yep I get it all the time and posted al little while ago - pleased Im not the only one.
Its like a grinding noise and first time it happened I thought the rim was scraping against the ground because the tyre was being pulled off from cornering force!
Thats the Norris Designs Evo VII. Its got around 750bhp and runs a Jun 2.2 litre stroker kit.
The car has a best 1/4 mile time of 10.9 seconds (on road tyres) but last I heard there was some more expensive rubber going on. :D
A serious TOTB contender there. Simon Norris did very well last...
I was looking at doing my own R1000. Wanted to build a ~400kg car powered by a Suzuki Hayabusa engine with a full steel bottom end and turbocharge it!
I will do eventually, but time just wont be on my side this year. :(
No it doesnt go to the ECU! A R5 GTT runs a carb so does not even have an ECU. It connects to the inlet manifold on the cylinder side of the throttle plate. Say the car is running 1 bar of boost, at wide open throttle there is 1 bar in the inlet manifold, and also 1 bar travelling into the...
The problem with dump valves and diesels is that the dump valve does not know when to open. On a petrol engine, the dump valve is connected to the inlet manifold on 1 side, and the cylinder side of the throttle plate on the other. When the throttle plate is slammed shut the pressure difference...
