It sounds like they are out of phase like others have already said.
Check that the wire that goes to the + on the speaker comes from the + from the head unit for both speakers.
If the + from the head unit goes to the - on one of the speakers you are 180 degrees out of phase. Basically one...
You dont need 2 people or have to do (or not do) anything with the airbags.
Also the 3 screws under the steering column do not need to be removed, but the two under the speedo and rev counter do.
Ah good - you are all sensible about this - just nice little cosmetic improvements here and there, as well as the odd exhaust here and there.
Its when theres talk of superchargers I start to scratch my head.
The Nova forum could learn a lot from us. LOL.
BTW that silver Clio courtesy...
This thread should be titled - who has wasted the most money.
Im sure Ill get flamed for this, but there is no point POWER TUNING a 1.2!
Dont get me wrong, Im all for the exhausts, filters and alloys to personalise the car, but whole power thing is just expense with very little gain...
The new Fiat Puntos have whats known as the Girly Button which is ultra-light steering. Im talking lock to lock with just your little finger whilst stationary.
I decided to call it the Post gym button because thats the only time it was any use.
Wasnt there an option that the dealers can change though? I remember someone posted it here who had some ECU reading software - something to do with injection?
I think its your over-active imagination.
Your standard Renault mechanic will NOT be an ECU expert, and the majority (BenR excluded) will not know their ignition map from their cold-start enrichment.
The chances are nothing has been changed - the 172 is very sensitive to air temperature you...
I dont see how they can void your warranty mate. I have fitted a new sound system throughout, but that does not affect any mechanical workings. Naturally, none of the sound system is covered by warranty anymore though.
The time it takes to fix depends on exactly whats gone wrong. Mine was away...
Hi mate I got your PM.
The problem is a split joint (Im unsure which or where as Renault never actually sent me the paperwork). The power steering reservoir will be completely empty, and make bubbling sounds when the engine is running.
The steering also makes a grinding sound when you try to...
Thought you were interested in an Evo III Jon?
Im driving the 182 tomorrow when my car goes in for some work (again!) so Ill let you know what I think of it. Im getting a courtesy Formula 1 car (Dynamique 1.2 16v) so my Cup should feel like a rocket once I get it back.
It wont hurt to pop...
Theres a bonus point for anyone who knows where that 5252 figure comes from to calculate an engines torque from the power and revs or vicea versa.
Ill give you a clue, Pi is involved...come on the bonus point is waiting.
Because the NA engine will rev higher.
No v-tec just proves it. The power from a vtec engine is made from really high revs. The torque is not a huge amount, but its high across a wide rev band, so the revs make the power.
A car that makes 100 lb/ft of torque at 8000 rpm will make 152 bhp at...

Its a guide I wrote for the 172 Cup, but the MK1 shouldnt be too different.
Torque is a mesurement of force during a snapshot in time, whereas power is a measurement of the ability do do work across time.
Torque and power are directly relational.
To gain power with no increase in torque the engine just needs to rev higher, but without the torque dropping off (which...
Yes but youll have to run a cable from the changer to the head unit as theres not one already there.
On the back of the head unit youll see 4 connections. 1 is a bank of power cables, 1 is a bank of 8 speaker wires, 1 is the dash display and steering wheel remote and next to this is an empty...
The 172 isnt a weekend car though - its a car to be driven all the time that can deliver the performance on demand. Weekend cars are either completely unpractical or serious on performance (or both if youre lucky)!
Sell the 172 and buy an eary Mitsubishi Lancer Evo or a TVR or something.
It should have been called a Renault Clio NCBE (No Claims Builder Edition). A cracking little first car that was, and it came complete with the 172 headlights too.
It always lived in the shadow of Jons Pug 106 XSi though - that was the most fun you could have with 1.4 litres of displacement...
Im pretty sure the early limiter is driven by oil temperature.
You can warm the car up so the water temp needle sits where it normally does (normal running temp) and the early limiter still kicks in. Its usually about 5 mins after the coolant has warmed up that the limiter is raised.
The MK1 & MK2 172s and the Cup all have VVT on the inlet camshaft. Renault may have altered how the VVT works for the 182, but the fact remains the each of the aforementioned cars have VVT.
The V6 MK 1 doesnt have it - not sure about the MK2s though!
