I came from a Clio MTV 1.2 8v (60 bhp).
Even sticking to 3000 revs during the first couple of weeks it was A HELL OF A LOT faster that my old car.
Happy motoring.
Cheers Paddy its a pleasure to be a part of such an un-exclusive group :D.
The Telford-Mike is a last resort!
Thanks for all your replies, Ill let you all know how I get on - my Renault dealers aftercare has been superb thus far so they might just fix it.
...I have acquired the 4k rattle.
Is there really no fix for it because it sounds hideous! I have searched through previous threads and I will not accept that it cannot be fixed from Renault. If some people can fix it themselves then Renault have no excuses.
If they plead total ignorance to...
I disagree.
Everyone momentarily lapses concentration once in a while - young or old -and this is probably what happened. Just a shame the car didnt hold up as well as a more modern one. :(
I think a driving check-up should be brought in at the age of 60.
I got the best one.
Bottles of MaxWax polish that usually retails at £6.99 was going for 50p a bottle. I got about 20 over the period of a few weeks, then it went down to 20p so I cleared the stock each time it was replenished.
Each bottle was sold at retail value :D
I hate racing chavs.
I have some real fun in the Cup with other cars. All friendly - plenty of hazard lights, left-right-left indicating, flashing of lights, waves etc. during the little blasts through quiet routes.
When you could race a chav in a car you KNOW you are not just going to beat...
Mi Clio 172 ha roto 3 veces también, pero el surtidor de gasolina nunca ha sido un problema. Apesadumbrado si usted no puede entender. Mi español es pobre.
I have been back to Renault 3 times with the R-Sport ECU fitted and every time the work has been completed under warranty.
What do you think about that?
Its simple:
Those who wanted a little more comfort than performance purchased the 172 and are totally happy with their decision.
Those who wanted a little more performance than comfort purchased the Cup and are just as happy as those who purchased the 172.
Both parties have what they want...
williams-ant:
I remember the article well. I have it lying around somewhere.
Everyone else in thread:
One major down-side I forgot to mention - the clutch is around a 9-hour job! Thats a lot of money.
The newest GTi-Rs are from 1994 (M plate). These cars dont live quiet lives, and are nearly 10 years old, so expect things to go wrong. There are a few specialists around, and youll need to find one because its not a typical Nissan car so dealers will not be to clued up on them.
A friend has...
The less sharp they are the better. It means you have more control over how much stopping power you apply. If the brakes were as sharp as the normal Clios it would be down-right dangerous in the Cup.
I get this - its a single clunk about half a second after the clutch is fully engaged in first or second gear. Its most pronounced when going up a hill at slow speeds. Never happens when you rev above 3k then change.
I have had the gerabox mounts changed due to another problem. Might be...
You say that, when I drove a 172 to decide if I wanted a Cup or not, the salesman siad something along the lines of, "Ok thats second, now hang-on...OK PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN...KEEP IT THERE...GO ON...GO ON...That was only 5k revs, you had another 2k to go!"
There is no way the V6 performance...
I has EXACTLY the same problem as you.
The boiling sound, the fulid on the floor etc. Mine had to go back to Renault, but I think the pump may have been replaced as a result of running for a while with no fluid (limped it to a car park so I could still watch the second Matrix film).
I knew...
Every time I think about the V6 I think, "...such a waste of money!"
But when I see one (MK1 or MK2) I change my mind. Id never actually own one because at the end of the day there are cars that out-perform it for a similar outlay (or less in many cases), and the performance is primarily why I...
OK I feel that in light of the car you have borrowed, it is no longer apropriate for me to talk to you. Oh and we need an emotion for ENVY!
Only joking Rich mate - give us a report of how it feels next to the Cup when you get a chance. Oh and wash it - its more filthy than the pile of videos...
