ah, didnt realise it was a mono block, yeah the guy is right, u only need to use speaker 1 terminals, cant think of anything else other than, something being incorrectly set like the low pass filter, of the fader on the h/u. speaker 2 terminals are for a seperate sub, or a DVC.
yeah, i think there may be a x-over, behind the dash somewhere, because there are only 4 sets of wires, and 6 speakers! i couldnt tell u exactly where it is though!
done a bit of research, i think the amp and sub, should work well together, but i dont think you have bridged it. you are just using one channel, look on the amp by the speaker terminals, or in the manual, it should show u how to wire it correctly.
to be honest, that plug dosent look familiar, there is another plug, for the steering column volume control, but its different to that, i never took a pic of that cus i cant use it with my current head unit. unless you want to use the steering column control thingy, i dont think youll need those...
push the grommet out, (cant remember if it pushes out or in) the grommet itself is two parts, just drill a hole through, big enough to get the cable through, feed some of the cable through, till its in the passenger footwell, and then try and refit, the grommet, bit of a fiddly job!
think and standard head unit that takes your fancy will fit as long as they have the standard iso, plugs on the back, even if not you can get a convertor cable. just remember if it has the top display thingy, that wont work, unless you have another lead, cant remember which make of head units...
if you pop the bonnet, and go to passenger side, look behind the suspension strut, right back, on the bulkhead and youll find a large plasticy grommet, that looks a bit like this

dont think the rts have those cables running...
as long as the boxes are the right size and sealed properly they shouldnt be a problem, as suggested above, use dynamat or similar, in boot, and get a half decent amp, to match the power of the subs.
here is a good place to start http://ccs.exl.info/calc_box.html#boxhttp://ccs.exl.info/calc_box.html#box
those boxes deffo look way too big, and i dont think your amp is up to the job. i started off with a sound lab amp, which i got for £10, i found most cheap amps make the sub go "pop" when...
as far as i can find out you may have wired it wrong, ive searched the net and think it should go like this,

they are sneaker feckers some of them, i got made redundant a few years back, and another guy was doing my job part time so there was nothin i could do about that.
not long ago, i saw a guy, must have been at least 80 odd, and he had a brand spanking new scooby, wrx! wasnt doing more than 20 mph! also seen an old guy in a fiesta rs turbo, and one in an escort cosworth.
look here, this guy built a FG box,

i used the same guide to build these,

are you looking at the plug at the back of the stereo? there should be one set of wires for the back speakers, then the door speakers and the tweeters (in the dash) and wired together in that plug
i passed my test in april 98, and i drove the works 7.5 tonner............. untill they had a look at my licience and realised i wasnt supposed to be driving it! whoops! if you passed before 98 u can drive em.
cheers, yeah, started on a boot build, unfortunately ive gotta chop a large section out and remould it, cus they are fouling, the little star shaped screw thinng that holds the light clusters:cry: ah well, all part of the learning curve.
