Rob, ur forgetting the weight of the V6 again against the cup - get a hold of the Evo mag from November or December 2002 and read for yourself - the cup beat the V6 and 172 and its just as quick in a straight line too (fraid to say Ive been in one and wish I owned one, but thatll be afew years...
Evo actually claimed 0-62 in 6.5 which would mean a lower 0-60 by about 0.2/0.3 secs! But hey whos counting!
Increasing torque and getting 0-100 times down will I think become the next challenge amongst all us car enthusiasts! Its funny when u talk to bikers and ask whats the 0-60 and they...
The one that R-Sport is producing is specifically set up for the CUP which has a different ECU to start with - so do u think it will work with the 172 MK1 (definately not) or the MK2? Maybe but thats like me sticking a 16V ecu into my Mk2 1600 16V or a cup ecu into my 1600 - aint gonna work is...
Its the limited slip diff - not like a quaife one on the Focus RS ,but same principle - cuts in too put the most power/grip on the wheel on the inside of the corner or outside depending on curve direction of corner! The knocking is the system working..............

Whoever thought of the genius idea to strip out the spare wheel, ABS and aircon from there MK1 must be a bit stupid coz that aint gonna make a cup its just gonna make a low value...
The Cup is homolgated for Grp N - go ask Renault Sport if u dont believe me infact pick up a damn brochure and read it for yourself and at the same time have a wee think about why it wouldnt come with small luxuries etc????

Danny dont really understand what u mean coz u naturally drive in 5th at 100 but if ur at the limiter in 5th at 100 then there is something wrong?
But u can be at various RPMs at 100 in 4th or 5th - dont really get you?
Unfortunately renault got the standard time for the cup wrong - all the mags CCC, EVO, Autocar, CAR etc timed a fresh factory one at 6.5secs standard. And the S3 is a hell of a lot heavier - na S3 dont intimidate me at all, in fact not much does other than a motorbike,an M3/Porsche GT3/Evo 5/6...
Well thats the idea isnt it with the upgrades - liek originally said in the brochure fort the Cup a series of performance upgrades will be available to turn your car into a full on race car for the road and track - and to go rallying the car had to be to Grp N spec - thats why the cup is...
Yeah 0-60 in 10.6 and 98BHP
My 1600 16V does 60 in 8 and has 138 BHP - nice motor for tuning if you have the doh - check out the super1600 with 220BHP!!!
Its a Grpn N ECU for the CUP not just a remap - apparently gives 15% across the torque range and 15% more power - should be hitting 200BHP then with near 180Ib.ft Torque - combine that with Grp N zorst/replacemnt filter and a dose of dieting and wolla - one seriously quick motor!
Mine crunches all the time but as u get used to it ull learn not to - it has a very high biting point also the accelerator sticks sometimes and car continues to accelerate after uve taken ur foot of the pleasure pedal!!!! Maybe is the carpet mat sticking though underneath!

Look at the stats for the S3 - o-60 in the same as a 172!!!! Dont know what ur looking at mate! And because the cup is quicker than the 172, me thinke mesa win - which I do generally!

The 1.8T is the same unit in the Golf GTi and the quickest GTi is the V6$motion at 8.2 to 60 which is quicker than the 1.8T so me no thinkso, 172 piss all over that engine...................even the R32 is slow!!!!
