how to wreck your tyres in one go!
oh and hows this for public embarrasment...
ok, i read that adi clicked his torsion bar about 60mm and dropped the front on springs, (about -40mm?). anyway, i can do both jobs myself, so would just have to buy the springs. i know the dampers wil wear more quickly with the shortened springs, but how long are they roughly to last - i know...
fitted the fastroad drilled discs and pads to my motor on saturday, am still bedding them in (done 200miles since sat:o!). the only slight niggle is that i can hear them when they are applied - not a squeaking, but more of a "ssshhh" sound. it is noticeable, just wondering if this is normal...
Just finished doing my dics/pad conversion from ktec (pics to follow), and have decided my car really needs a slamming, but dont wanna go either too far so its undriveable, or not far enough so theres no real percievable difference.
Any pics of motors anyone could put on / link to?
Ta.
i can get a decent 1.6 16v megane engine for about £300, need to know if its gonna fit in easily?
would there be much improvement over my existing 1.4 8v engine? do you reckon its worth it?
after i hit the kerb in the ice with the o/s wheel, i have had work done (see discussion post) to fix the suspension and alighnment (lower arm, bushes, wheel bearing) but have a loud rumble/groan that rises with road speed. It gets worse when you back off the throttle, and when you turn a bend...
GOt my car back from the bodyshop, everything has ben straightened out from my kerbing the wheel in the ice, replaceed a lower arm, bushes, wheel bearing and re-alighned everything. Drive very nice...only problem is that the great big groaning noise that i thought was just the bearing is not...
WHen the engine is running, when i put the trottle down, the gearstick moves forward slightly (noticable enough if you have your hand on it.) however, when you come off the throttle, it sort of snaps back into place. Is this a loose mounting?
if so, are there any dodgy ones that i should check...
i am gonna uprate my brakes with the k-tec fast road discs (balanced, vented and cross-drilled) and kevlar pads. But i know there are problems replacing the standard discs with valver discs in that you need a new caliper - will i need a new one for the k-tec one?
i need to do mine, but they look a lot harder than when i did them on my micra. ARe they a tricky job to do?
need to know asap becuase my car is going into have a lower arm replaced today - while they are doing it i am thinking they may aswell do the bearing.
what do you people think?
on my way to work early this mornin (and i mean early, 5:30!) i was cruisin on the A2 at about 70mph on the inside lane when i saw a damn fox standing on the middle lane. As i approached he looked at me and tried to dart accross my path. Instinctively i swerved right to miss it, but going at...
need to replace both discs (with pads) on front, and wondered if any other RT owners use non-standard discs/pads?
I know about puttign the valver calipers/discs on but i dont want spongy braking w/o new master cylinder. Any other parts i should be thinking about that wont need an uprated...
You might remember when it was snowy i skidded my car and kerbed my front o/s wheel. hard. originally, at a garage, i was told i had bust just about everything going (with subframe bent), but i was a bit dubious coz it was still driveable!
anyway, took it to a good bodyshop today, and ive only...
just had a thought - when ive been using them ive been putting them under the chassis runners, but am i being really dumb in that as theyre aclled axle stands they go under THE AXLE?
if so, and when ive recovered from the stupidity, where abouts on the axle do you put them?
SORRY, know it should only be in "wanted" forum (is there aswell), but my mum had her car broken into and they got her sony HU - the stupid tw*ts forgot the changer tho, hence me needing a sony replacement HU.
if any are for sale, please PM me
cheers
Dead easy - i am presuming the pressures on 15/195/45 rubber will be different from my std 13/165/65? only thing is, forgot to ask the tyre shop when i got my rims - what pressure do you guys pump it to?
cheers
Sorry to write the title in caps but i thought this was important, and needs to be read by everyone. Last night / morning, about 5am, we were woken up to hear someone trying to fish my keys through the letterbox of our front door - fortunately for us (not for them b******s!) he was cack-handed...

just a quickie lads - when exactly do you know your bearings are gone? what symptoms are there? i know about the whining sound, but thats about it!
cheers
i cant belive it - ive had the clio for 2 months, and have had my mum reverse into it and now a great bloody HGV drive into the same side of it!
i was getting onto the A2 today on my way home from work, and there was big traffic. the inside trwo lanes were not moving, but they were just...

just got in my car (which was cold), turned it on and stalled it when i puleed off (ok ok we all do it sometime!). when i restarted it though, the engine was V.lumpy, seemed llike it was only runing on 3 cylinders. i could also hear it pinking . ANyway, i drove it to see what happened, and as it...
got a set of boss 15" XTRs yesterday with falken 195/45 rubber, and although i knew the acceleratioon would be a bit worse i wasnt prepared for this! altough you 172 / willy boys are obviously a lot faster in comparison, on my standard rims i could feel the pull on the RT, espec. around the 3K+...

put my car in for its cambelt change today, as i have no time to do it myself and caouldnt be bothered with the hassle of doing it!
so, the bloke quoted my £120+VAT fot the cahnge, quite reasonable, better than the £250 renault wanted! assured me it would be done same day, as he knows i need...
