I think the thread got lost, he was quizzing std mini v modded clio. I suppose it comes down to individual drivers, tyres the minis run on, spec of the mini (they get very heavy with all the extras) we can only speak of our experiences. I think it wouldbe fair to summarise a modded clio would be...
You would whip even the revised Cooper S from 2004 which has 170 bhp. (supercharged still) I dont know if you have ever driven one but they are very tame. It gives good power delivery but its only like half the 5k kick of the renault engines but all the way through its powerband. A tuned up one...
Ive just seen your log in name and location as sheffield. I know this shouldmprob be in spotted, but a couple of weeks after I got mine I was near crystal peaks and saw that reg on a blue 197 with different exhaust. That you then?
That deal doesnt include delivery reg fee road tax or inspection or alarm. Plus its an import so no breakdown cover and only 2 years warranty. I rang them, some of that is in the small print the rest isnt. And its extra for metallic taking a metallic coloured car up to I should imagine £13600 ish
I think I understand it now,it makes about 6bhp difference accross the rev range and torque is up a lot low down. Can you tell me then how its affected the way it drives, gear changes fuel economy etc? As im only considering this and an air filter plus higher octane fuel thanks
Paul was that on a standard car.....forgive me im not used to examining the graphs but has the torque been increased low down and by how much? Did it seem to reduce the hesitance of the engine at all if the owner experienced any? and is it best to run on 97/98 as the filler cap says 95 and...
Has anyone had a remap done on a standard 197? If so did you have a before and after rr test? what are the bhp and torque gains, and what does it drive like after the remap. I have searched the threads, I have seen Paul Murray is the guy to do it, just wanting an honest un biased answer. Ta
I ran 2 sets of uniroyal rain sport when I had my Mk2 172. Although they are the same dimensions as the standard ones they fit slightly proud of the rim meaning they look wider but prevent u kerbing the wheel aswell. Excellant grip especially in wet and good compound, lasted a good 14k on the...
Im glad you are all saying this, because Im starting to feel that the 197 just feels slower, but in fact its about the same. But it also proves that the extra power is just to cover the extra weight. Ive just had a blast now back from shopping and again it dont feel that quick but the speedo...
Andy, Its probably Gordon Lambs demonstrater that they lend to us when our 197's are in for work. I didnt have it that day though. reg ends in LLU. Ps word of warning, dont buy that one from them.....its seen the wrong side of a hedge or two judging by the wheels!
If im in the wifes streetka your 182 can get ready!!!!If you see a stripey haired bird in a black 197 braking really hard and banging her head on the windscreen, that'll be the wife.....still not used to the brakes
Ive only been a visitor on here for a short period of time, and I can gather that the opinion is that 197's are slower than 17 or 182's. Has anyone actually got any true stories of on the road or track where these cars have gone head to head? I suppose from owners of all 3 to get un biased...
If it helps, ive had my 197 for 3 months now and 2.5k. In 2002 I bought a brand new 172 which was a big hike up from a Pug 306 diesel, and I thinks its fair to say it suffered from faults over the whole car bar the engine which was faultless. In crude speed tests it would do 0-60 in 6.5 or so...
I was fobbed off a bit by the service manager about this re programming, he said its just something to live with. I shall try Vpower for a few fill ups as you all seem to know what you are on about.
Im new to all this so bear with me......
Ive had my 197 now for just over 3 months, Im now on 2.5k, and it still seems to run a bit lumpy, very jerky throughout the power band. Ive tried different petrols and confronted renault(why bother) to no avail.
I had a 172,and yes it definately did...
