It could be the piston couldn't it. I'm guessing they're not repairable, just replacable! Is there a way I could check for certain it's the piston? If the top mount was loose, would it creak under braking?
The shims are still on, all clean and smeared with a bit of grease. But I just removed the backing plates that came on the pads themselves. Looked a bit suspect, but I've prob' made things worse.
Disc seems fine, pads are new, pedal feels ok too

It used to tick, now it's creaking like a mofo. And then 10 mins later it's fine, no noise??!!
It's been getting worse since I put new discs and pads on. Lockheed discs and Ferodo pads. Just took the pads off, cleaned everything up and greased it etc, but I won't be surprised...
Mine was doing this, in addition to not starting at all. I replaced the t/body, then the fly by wire throttle pedal and finally cleaned up the TDC sensor. The world's a better place now!
Was difficult, because visually everything was ok, and no fault codes were coming up. So Reno would have...
We hired the peugeot 106/aygo on holiday. got worse mpg in it than my 172, felt bum to drive and the seat squeaked, had about 10,000 kilometres on it! Third gear is almost non existent and 15k per annum is a fair few miles in one.
I nearly suggested it before, and before I drove one I was...
The mini would have to be quite old, but they did come down A LOT in price. There was a period when they just didn't really depreciate, then fell like stones. I looked a while back tho, I think for 6k you'd be looking at 2004/04 plates on 40k. But I'm sure the girl and her mates would be well...
IMO don't buy her a bl00dy car. She'll only leave the house, and then who's gonna do the housework?
That does seem cheap,.. I'd be leaning towards 2nd hand mini one or even a little seat diesel, not sure about monies tho
^ Nah, better if we have JC telling how sh1t a car is, then how it's the only car he'd buy and a nice spot of tomfoolery from the other two blowing up a car or something. Who needs proper road tests and factory visits?
Used to love old TG. Whatever happened to it.
Cambelt is 72k or five years, whichever came first I think. I've heard the cups are about as fast as a ferrari but the full fats are slower than my gran getting outta the bath....
Seriously tho, I had luggage and my gf in the car and I kept up with a cup to about 90 sheep droppings. He was...
I just filled up there today. Round the corner from my work. God awful place St Helens. I've only been there at night maybe twice and I've worked there 5 years.
Nice looking car BTW. Gonna go out for a blast in mine in a mo, as 'er in doors is at work and mates are staying in. Boo.

Gonna go check my tyres now. When the mrs has gone out, she already thinks I'm car obsessed!
Phew, mine are all e13 with numbers and made in...
I put my old wheels and tyres back on the front. No shake!
I then ordered 2 more f1s, as my fronts had nails in. One nail was all the way thru plus about an inch. Got these balanced at the place I always go to and they're fine. No shake, but the car does seem to pull when accelerating on...
Again, not a dealer, but Kwik Fit St Helens. Near my work, so I popped in needing my tyres rotating. The front just wouldn't balance properly, and I'd had them balanced the day before by kwik fit. So I asked if they could rotate the tyres. I explained again, I wanted my tyres rotated, front on...
I got a PB today of 7.5 sec 0-60mph and 1/4 mile in 16 sec. It's damn hard to get the revs right, not spin the wheels, not bog down etc. I wasn't aiming for a quarter mile reading, just realised it had recorded all the data, can even see the acceleration curve and where I must have changed gear...
