I would say fair enough at 12k for fronts but not the discs really just the pads. Rear discs and pads should be fine at 12k. Certainly shouldn't be wearing faster than the front unless he drives everywhere in reverse.

I got told on my 36k service my front brake pads are 'badly pitted' I told the girl, they were fine when I put them in a month ago. I'll check them myself and replace if need be. Haven't bothered as I know they're fine.

Yes and no. I want to make sure that there's no way it can possibly get worn. I'd rather the pipe lie where it wants to lie naturally rather than force it over to one side. I actually had to apply a fair bit of pressure to move it like in the second pic.
