When im driving my 172 I love it, when it comes to doing any work on it I hate it, with a vengeance.

How do these come out?, tried piercing with with a sharp screw driver and broke it, bit wary of using big screw driver, thanks. A while later, now tried a big screw driver but despite tearing it, it still dosnt want to come out.

Cambelt change is due timewise, excluding tools what do I need from Renault. Already got oil/filter and may fit ac delete while im there so don't need aux belt at this time. So cambelt, dephaser? at 68000, what else.

Cannot believe how many phase 1,s and phase 2,s really are being broken, Used to be terminal rust was the only good reason to break a car, but these are rust free, still will just make mine rarer.

As title, is it possible to get one, with some other cars ive owned its been possible to buy aftermarket ones or fit ones from other models.

IVE managed to break my nearside rear abs sensor, tried to get one from my local renault dealer to be told will have to come from france, now i normally run older cars and have no experience with abs, the light on the dash is on, can i drive it or not, thanks.

ITS different to the ones on my phase 1 172 although the mounting points look the same, mine are more enclosed, any idea what its of (although it hasnt actually been on)

Is it possible to fit t/b,s to a phase 1 nicely, by this i mean, have an inlet tract long enough to make it worth while, keep the bonnet catch, and have a proper filtration system, dont want 4 socks sticking out the front, thanks.

Does anyone know if the later cd players (which take cd,s in the front) can be used to replace the phase 1 cassette player with cd,s under the seat,, easily wiring wise, and if the display would still work, thanks.

What mods are required to fit one to a phase 1 172, and is it worth it, in particular if other work is planned, (when funds allow)

As everyone knows the front wheels on phase 1 172 sit too far in and looks stupid. I dont want to fit spacers or low et wheels, any special suspension parts available, anyone know something i dont? im thinking one of wider ball joints, drive shafts and tca,s. Only looking for an inch each side...

Does anyone know if the phase 1 smaller engined non 172 sports were available in the same red as the phase 1 172,s.? Seen several red ones but nothing the same. thank you.

My first phase 1 172 would easily rev round to 7,000 ish with a definite kick at 5,500 ish ( 105,000 miles) My latest just does not want to go over 6,000 with no kick (less than 60,000 miles) , apart from this it ticks over and runs lovely. The previous owner mentioned rs tuner, im not 100 %...

On my mk1 golf it was possible to fit spacers between the stub axle and beam to increase the rear track, i havent investigated this area on the clio yet, is the same thing possible?

Thinking about replacing my very worn steering wheel but am concerned about the airbag, is it a self contained unit, does it just clip of and back on, will it still work, will it go of in my face, thanks in anticipation.

Went out tonight and the above lights went out, warning lights still worked, 30 mile journey and they stayed of, about 5 miles into return journey they came back on and stayed on. Is this one of those common clio faults?, cheers

Changing the head gasket on my daughters 1200 8 v clio, the haynes says no 1 cyl is next to the flywheel, is that right? every car i have done so far no 1 has always been the opposite end to the flywheel, thanks.

Looked at the jenvey site and couldnt see one, so are inlet manifolds available anywhere to fit the dcoe flange type throttle bodies to the 172 type engine, thank you.

Will hopefully be getting a new exhaust for my x reg 172 in the near future, preferables are straight through performance system, stainless, subdued sounds, single tailpipe that dosnt look like a huge piece of guttering sticking out the back, any reccomendations? thank you

Just a thought but all my alloys are kerbed and 3 tyres need replacing so what are 172,s like on 17 inchers with 205/40,s i suppose, cheers

The more i look the more i find, the wires have been pulled out of the connector and one taped so looks deliberate but i have no idea what its for, thank you
