Almost up to date with progress now. I did get some febi top mounts fitted to cure an annoying knock from the passenger side (no photos) but it turns out it’s the inner arb bush. I think I logged it earlier in the thread but I had these replaced with black series bushes less than 2 years ago. I...
So we all know how one job spirals into another, while the battery was out I decided to do the upper box mount and with it the left hand engine mount. Went down the VibraTechnics route and I’m very happy with them. Had a few problems with the gearbox mount as it was very tight on the stud. Ended...
Following the acoustic pipe incident and with another mapping session approaching I decided to ditch the acoustic valve and while I had the arch liners off I removed the fog light and put a CAF in its place..I
I opted for a 3D printed eBay option which was expensive and the finish on the funnel...
I’d been considering a race battery for some time and eventually one came up on the forum with a relocation kit. Odessey pc680.
So I read many guides and threads and collected the following parts:
Longacre through panel
3 way junction box
Heavy duty cable crimping tool
It took me a while but I...
During the winter months and particularly the Xmas holidays I like to get the car in the shed, up on stands and do some underbody cleaning/rust prevention. So out comes the wire wheels, kurust, acf50 and the underseal. While doing the drivers side with the wheel off I noticed a lump of metal...
First up was engine work. After a lot of research considering itb’s, cam’s and turbo’s it was the budget that lead me to group N timing. For the money I thought it was good value so it was a trip to Liverpool for Carl (bloke) to do the cam work then up the road to Chris at EFI.Cracking service...
Ok, so 3 years, 10 track days and around 8000 miles later I’m revisiting this thread. I have to say I’ve really enjoyed the Clio up to now and have no intention of changing cars.
We’ve all got a bit of spare time at the minute so I figured a few small updates might be in order.
Cheers
Totally understand, the stud looks ugly in the hole, and baggy hole’s aren’t everybody’s cup o tea😁
As long as it’s torqued down correctly it should be sound.
I’ve done this last week, mine was exactly the same. Only thing I did differently was rather than use the supplied washer I replaced it with a bigger one (think it was the standard washer) to cover a bit more surface area when torqued up.
Evening all,
As above, friend of mine is asking if it’s safe to run an odessey non metal jacket battery in his engine bay (black casing I believe, MJ is red?). I told him to relocate it in the car as I have. Is he safe to do it or will the engine temps destroy the battery?
Cheers
I imagine some of the blokes on here could do it but there’s a good reason why nobody has done.
I’ve ordered a couple of wire rope buckles which I’m going to bolt to the side mounts hopefully.
I’m not sure to be honest. After trawling threads I don’t think anyone has done that? Would be ideal really to retain the pre tensioners etc to avoid dashboard lights. On the down side though my standard seats would then be worthless?
Cheers
Cheers for the input chaps.
Resolved this in the end, I removed the spider, greased the stud, rested the underside on the bench and hammered the washer on with a socket. No way I would have done it with the spider in the engine bay.
The mount itself was very tight also so with a combination of...
Morning all,
Currently running odessey pc680 behind passenger with isolator. When it’s dead I’m looking towards a powerlite pc20. Probably a dumb question but I’m a complete novice! Can I just swap the batteries over with no mods? Also will the distance from the engine bay effect the voltage...
Just a quick 1 chaps.
Part way through fitting a vibratechnics upper gearbox mount using guides on the forum. Going ok till this:
The 1st washer in the kit won’t go down the spindle far enough, now I’ve read you might need to “tap” down with an over size socket but “tapping “ isn’t working.
Is...

Thanks for the input chaps.
The Peugeot buckles were my next port of call after trawling through threads but the cable buckle seems a much smarter option. I think I’ll go for those. Cheers
