Not sure if you’re taking the piss :) but I got one of these for the wife a while back and it was a good runabout. Only problem with these is catastrophic ROT.
I would love to see this happen. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for the build thread and if I had a vast car collection and bank account I’d put a deposit down now.
Coilovers if it’s track only. You won’t see any improvement in body roll with cooksports (look at my avatar). Try save a bit more and get the BC Coilovers, pretty well rated on here and well priced.
You would be better off removing the rear door cards and treating the inside but be warned, you might not like what you find ?
It’s inevitable you will damage the skirt removing the rivets either melting the plastic or drilling off Center through the rivet.
Not worth removing unless you’re sure...
That’s my current setup, too soft for track in my opinion. I’m sure others would agree. I agree with posts above, save the extra and get the collys in for some flat cornering ?
Wow. The difference is like night and day. I’m guessing that’s cup dampers v’s coilovers.
Comparing wheel lock though, it LOOKS like the ph1 is experiencing world class under steer?
Probably wrong though.
I was quite lucky because my old man has good fabrication skills and as the area is unseen he made a 3ft section of sill from steel sheet. I’ve painted/ undersealed it etc and it’s good to go. I was very close to ordering a new sill but as it worked out I got the job done for a few pints.
Drill out the 5 rivets along the very bottom of the sill and remove a couple of screws in either wheel arch. Then simply take a deep breath, lift the skirt away and prepare to be disappointed ?
 I don’t know the man in the Porsche but I do know if it was me I’d be seriously considering cutting your brake lines the minute you went for a slash:smile:
Fair play mate, looks a real piece of kit.
Interested to see what you do here. I’ve always got an eye on the mk3’s, I’m attracted to the more modern side and the newer registration plate. Plus if you throw some tyres on a cup’d 200 it’s got the brakes and suspension in place to be good on track. Having never driven one though I can’t say...
Good looking motor, like the colour.
Had mine 4 yrs, pre face lift, 330 bhp, all the bells and whistles.
Tracked it and generally ragged it everywhere, never let me down.
Good-
FAST, solid, reliable, comfortable, almost practical and they hold money with good spec.
Bad-
HEAVY and regardless of...
172, 182, 197, modified or stock, cup or non cup will provide great entertainment on the track and be perfectly useable on the road.
Just search for the best example within budget.
