    172 in a mk1, Superfatdan's very very long project....

Here is a brief video of the day - my mate in the MX5 mounted the camera in a different place as it’s more secure but sadly it pics up a load of wind noise, so that will be sorted for next time. I’ve just ordered a new mount too so I’ll have some footage next time too. Hopefully this video shows...

Sadly I have none. The go pro mount in my car got damaged last week and I’ve not got round to replacing it. And my mate in the MX5 had his mounted up high to try and get some good footage but the wind noise on the videos is horrendous. 🤦‍♂️😂

Just got back. Had an earthing issue but a bit of fiddling and it was cured by about 10am. Ran faultless all day and the tyres.... oh my god the tyres! What a difference!!

    DS1.11 overheating

Halfway through my second track day on DS1.11’s and not a single issue so far. My last day was pre-lockdown. no bedding in just fitted them and did 3 semi warm laps, in to check pressures and back out full bore. no brake judder, no squealing, just a proper confidence inspiring pedal.

Agree, 100%. The issue is though, this car hasn’t moved for 12 years. Whilst it works perfectly *touch wood* I want to change and upgrade stuff and making repeated trips is too time consuming.

They did my VXR (and did a great job!) but it’s half a day off work absolute minimum by the time I get all the way over there, have it done, then come back again. Just wish there was someone a lot closer.

So... New wheels, new tyres, new seats, an oil and filter change, gearbox oil change (this gear oil was only 2 days old but as the car had been sat for 10 years I thought it best to do another change to make sure all the old s**t is out) new CV boots and a bit of ‘that’ll do’ on the wheel...

    COILOVER THOUGHTS & EXPERIENCES

if it’s mainly a road car with the occasional track day, I’d recommend Bilstein B14’s. hands down the best road based Coilovers I’ve ever driven on. A bit too soft for track though but if it’s not an out and out track car, that won’t matter.

    Ride height for Ultraleggeras?

The width of the wheel is only part of it though. If the offsets are massively different, a 6.5 wide wheel ‘could’ stick out more than a 7.

    Ride height for Ultraleggeras?

Impossible to say without looking at it in person. But just from the pics, I’d say you need some spacers. Those wheels look too far in.

182 Trophy won't start, any ideas?

I had exactly the same on my track car and it was a rusty/corroded earth strap on the gearbox/chassi leg.

    172 Intermittent Speedo

If it’s intermittent, a cracked/dirty/corroded ABS ring would be my go to. Get your wire brush and a can of brake cleaner out!

    172 Intermittent Speedo

Speedo sensor is on the top of the box, under (ish) the coolant bottle. A 2003 car shouldn’t be speedo drive though, should work off the ABS rings.

Thinners/panel wipe in a pump sprayer. It evaporates quickly. Grab a couple of cans of brake cleaner too for the intricate bits.

So... tracks are back open and that can only mean one thing!! Time to book as many as I can for 2021! first of all, I needed to drag it out of storage. So tightened the straps, checked the pressures on the trailer tyres and dragged it back to my house. I then loaded up the van with the...

If he actually bothered to prep it for sale, (even cleaned it?!) then it could make that I think. but it looks like a £2000 car in its current state.
