Not worth it IMHO.
A 172 can be had for under a grand and is a far better platform to start with. When you would be looking at £3k at least for a turbo conversion the car price becomes less of an outlay to the overall cost of the project.
Here's what you need.
51mm to 38mm would do.

70mm to 63mm...
Well done mate, very impressive results!
Guess you'll wait for the internals to do something interesting before changing them or are you whipping the engine back out and getting them changed? Did Andrew do your mapping?
Forgot as well I need to get the dash out too to get rid of the sound deadening behind it. You will be a busy boy with your but I for one am looking forward to seeing yours on track next year!
Won't be up on Sunday as I've a few jobs to do on the scooby. New rear dampers, rear callipers, pads...
Thought you were already planning your tea and kitkat moments. :p
Sounds a good plan. Swansea is a fair trek. Hope it's all worth it which I'm sure it will be.
Yeah, remap, geo setup, cage, new alternator, rear caliper, polycarbonate windows and CF door cards, sort the oil leak from the turbo drain and a few other niggles.
Need to get it running well do battle with you! ;)
£ for £ you will get more power for forced induction but depends on what you want out of it. I went the megane 225 route as a self build and it takes time and money to complete. Did my first track day with the new lump last weekend on the JC5 box with no issues other than the alternator giving...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Happy to a degree but definitely needs more mapping work. Car felt good but also needs the suspension geometry done before it is on track again. It got pass marks but could do better.
Wondered where you'd gone. It was good you could at least pop along for a bit. I'll...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Not surprised he went off then trying to drift through there.
Didn't know the guy in the Clio that rolled but felt bad for him. That was his first trackday in that direction and he rolled it before i had even been out on track so must have been in his first couple of...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Gaz was saying you had to work. I'll catch you next time and get you out hopefully for some passenger laps.
We kept each other company and it was comforting knowing each of us had the same issue to cry about. Lol
Glad he got home but it was an even longer day for him...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Cheers for that Gaz but I have the keys on me so would need to head back to the sis-in-laws anyway. Dave might say he'd prefer that though :o.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Yeah, you too mate. It seems to be a day of fooked alternators. I was sitting with your mate for a while waiting on recovery trucks for both of us. His focus rs is very nice. Did he get back home ok?
I'll get you out next time when it's fixed and fully mapped with all...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Just got home about an hour ago. Yeah, it was the alternator after all. Got the car taken to the sis-in-laws in kirkcaldy as green flag were trying to rape me for £220 to take it home. Daveb is coming to collect it for me and bringing it home, top man!
Car did go well...
