I'd be tempted to say it'll be fine. The lodged blade doesn't sound likes its given you any issues up till now, I'd imagine you won't have any issues just because you've noticed it.
£1400 is a very useful sum of money. In 4 years time, when you're struggling with bills and a house, you'd be glad to have 1400 sitting around, because you didn't piss it away on a car.
