    Sticking front (N/S) caliper

Easy to check. Take the caliper off and see if the sliders have seized and try and push the piston back. You will see if the dust boot looks gubbed then it will most likely mean the piston is seized. These calipers are a peice of pis5 to overhaul anyway and it should only cost you about £20.

decat exhaust is it illegal on street?

The fact is without a cat you won't pass all the emission tests so it is illegal for a car registered after 1992 iirc not to have a cat.

Rear brake problems on my 182

Did you buy bearing and discs separately? They come complete if you get them from Renault, recommended. What was the problem then? Sounds like a sticking piston to me which doesnt just go away.

    caliper question

If the sticking piston suddenly frees itself you will have no braking at all as all the fluid is pushed to the place of least resitance, ie where there is no pad. You'll need to put up with it or not drive the car until replaced. I would not drive the car tbh.

Attention Nurburgring pilots (any track really) - Some advise required if you please

Re: Attention Nurburgring pilots (any track really) - Some advise required if you ple I use Pagid blue's, Brembo Max discs and Motul RBF600 fluid. The brakes still get very hot (obviously) but have never faded on the 25 minute sessions I do at trackdays and I am very heavy with the brakes also...

Brake Fluid Change 172 - how much fluid?

About 1 ltr but it depends on how much you bleed them. Dont scrimp on the fluid and make sure all the old fluid is flushed out of the lines.

    Oil temp and pressure gauges??

Is there no blanking covers on the F4R block? I fitted defi gauges to my P1 and removed a blanking cover next to No.3 cylinder (hottest oil temp in an EJ20 block as its next to the turbo) as you will want to know the highest oil temp. The oil in the sump is the coolest. Its not so critical in a...

    Clio 172 cup track project

If it's a track car strip it out to lose some weight. Also ditch the engine cover, cups didn't come with them for a reason. ;)

Powder coating alloys - help please

The only issue ivefound with not masking off the hub face of the wheel is if you use them on track or very heavy braking, the hub can heat up and melt the coating causing the wheel bolts to loosen as there is now a gap between the wheel and the hub.

    roll cage fitting advice......

Be careful as well as if your car is purely for the road then a full 6 point cage will not be covered by many insurance companies due to serious head injuries if in a crash while not wearing a helmet going to tesco's. You'd be better with a simple bolt in rear cage that can be removed as simple...
