Mine will soon be turbo'd but the dci 80 ratios for track use would be too long imho. I'm not sure what the ratios are but I would imagine they are 35-40% longer than the 172's ratios which would not be good even in a turbo car. The performance increase of the turbo would be lost by the leggy...
I got some glass fibre backed aluminium material for mine as it says it can handle 500deg contact temp and 1000deg radiant temp.
Why is this stuff better or is it only the asthetics that are better?
For £20+vat I may have to get some anyway.

Just one more question, what about a non cup 182, do they use the same shaft and would they fit?
I think the shaft might be from a non cup 182.
Is there any difference between a cup packed FF 182 and a 182 cup?
Been offered a shaft with the carrier and it looks like it will do the job of clearing my oil return to the sump but not sure if there is any difference in length or anything else that stops it fitting straight on my 172 cup...
Get a pry bar or a large screw driver in the gap and try and lever them apart.
It'll be the splines of the output shaft seized on the clutch so wiggling, shaking and prying will work if done with some swearing.
Make sure all bolts and nuts are off.
