The SIDC days are full of lotus's with only a few Impreza's.
I'll come over and say hi anyway and see how you are doing. Just take it easy on your first track day. There is no prizes for pranging your car and the Duffas catches a few people out even after they know the track. If there is any...
Yeah, loads of dust. The grooved discs don't help with that but if you use a good sealer on your wheels and wash them regularly there shouldn't be a problem.
You'll not be thinking of your wheels when you're slamming on the anchors at 110mph dropping to 30 going into the hairpin at knockhill...
I've used both DS2500's and Pagid blues and think the Pagid pads are far less susceptible to fade and have amazing stopping power. I've abused them on 6 track days last year and they were excellent on every one of them. They'll do me a few more days this year. You need to use them with grooved...
I'm going to this one too but only to watch as the car is still under construction.
I would definitely change the pads and as said make sure all your fluids and tyre pressures are good.
It's a good bunch on the SIDC days. There is a trackscotland track day the week before. Might be worth going...
Looking at getting another set of tyres for some wheels that are to get me to and from the track so road legal, but also used on track for wet track days as these are frequent at knockhill.
I use A048's for dry to damp days so these are just for the really wet ones.
Any recommendations? I...
What seats have you got and I guess you have harnesses at the point of testing? No warning lights issues?
I've got a 11 months on my MOT but can see some major issues.
Remember, antifreeze will have corrosion inhibitors in them also to stop and corrosion occuring in your block so best to use the correct type of antifreeze.
Do one at a time with a jack and a block of wood under the sump. Pretty straight forward but easier to do that way. Make sure your manifold is off the bulkhead after changing the mounts or it will knock like buggery.
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Nice trailer, thinking of getting one myself. Just wondering what tow vehicle you are using?
Love the project by the way.
Bit premature going for a new car when you dont actually know what's wrong with it. I'd find that out first then explore your options.
If it started it cant be a belt or pully failure so might not be as serious as you think.
Wont cause any damage and will probably run fine like that for many thousands of miles.
I would leave until you need your clutch doing or until it gets a lot worse.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Bit of an update on the car. I've been working since the new year with the engine swap and other bits and pieces but managed to finally get the engine out today with some help from the mrs who incidently was hung over! What a girl!!
And the engine and box out...
Had mine with a decat on the road and it was noisy but I was only using on the road to get to the track. On track nothing sounds better and you get good comments from others about the noise on the pit drive bye.
Going to be using it with a turbo setup soon so we'll see how it sounds with that...
KW V2's, whitline ARB and fully polybushed.
Mainly cause the car was to be used on track and some road so wanted adjustable dampening. Like the setup on the road and track so would recommend.
With a turbo you definitely notice the difference in ambient air temp. In the clio, not so much but noticed the worse mpg!
Put this down to less viscous oil due to the lower temps for the first 15mins of any journey.
LMAO at NOT slowing down for the conditions, are you mad!
Would this be a good track set up. I want the gear stick closer to the wheel but dont want any adverse gearbox issues ie missed gears or too aggressive changes.
I have Defi gauges in my impreza and depending on the ambiant air temp, water usually takes about 10 mins to get to temp and the oil another 5 mins. When the water gauge says it has reached operating temp the oil temp has not even registered on the gauge.
