Yeh crazy extra money over normal polybushes. My car already has lots of camber but havent stripped yet to see whats giving it!
I ordered the windows about a week ago, hopefully get them next week.
Aye after i wrote that i checked Powerflex website and seen the adjustable camber ones- £240!! Oft.
Metal insert inside yours looked like it was set for adding camber, but now i see it bigger on my laptop (was on Iphone), the hole that looked offset is just the hole from the other bush that you...
Is that an offset metal insert in the bush? So camber is increased? Need to get some of them at some point as Clios are shocking for those bushes wearing.
What you planning for gearstick setup? Whats plans inside? Doorcards off i presume for cage, polycarb windows or that?
Seat seems good, snug fit for a 32" waist so be careful what you buy.
Bumper removed, tow strap fitted, bumper mod to fit strap through, re-fit with minimal fixings for quick release, fit tow sticker as per MSA
OMP steering wheel boss arrived so fitted and played with column height-...
Seat bars made up, got the welder kindled up and welded in and seat fitting in place. Very happy with seating position- good height, angle and distance from pedals etc.
As far as i know the seats or harnesses dont need to be approved and no fire extinguisher is needed.
Roll cage needs to be FIA or MSA approved and for under 2000cc you only need a rear cage.
Its hard to find the proper regs and the yearbook is not simple either, firing you between sections for...
Its Sparco 6 Point, its only just in place, door bars have to be welded on where they suit.
I like the look of X bars and harness bars but i suppose its saving me weight. ;)
Parts arrived. This is getting more involved than i planned :O
Next stage is to weld on footplates and doorbars, then bolt it all down.
Then sort out seat mount and position.
Then paint it all, modify dash around cage and refit it.
Its not much fun this part!!!
Yeh for SLS the seats dont need to be in date (or even approved?) but rollcage does. Its when you go racing, seats, harnesses and extinguisher all needed and approved/ in date.
Its a lot of money though, even race suit, boots, gloves & helmet would cost probably £600 minimum !!
Im planning on trying Super Lap Scotland, its not quite racing but its a championship where you go out against the clock. Regulations are a bit more lenient than racing and you would race on a Nat B non race license. It also means you can use your Clio at whatever state of tune its at, the cars...
Bloody hell your not joking, ive put a post up to try see how many of us there is planning on Knockhill.
Put a reply in here: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?729135-So-whos-all-planning-on-Knockhill-events!&p=10048945#post10048945
Seeing as there seems numerous local folk popping up left, right and centre in project threads etc saying theyve bought track cars and will be on Knockhill this year, i thought id try get everyone in one thread so we know who to expect to see!
A link to a project thread would be good too, so we...
This car is now my mates, see my thread for my car here: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?728554-Clio-172-Cup-Track-Car

Did you, he was in last night and seen the 2 Clios stripped then said he knew a boy Fraser just down from him and started describing your car! He text this morning saying i had him looking at Clio track cars last night. Haha! :race:
I can see there having to be dedicated Clio track days!! That...
So, progress towards track/competition car...
A wash before starting
Before
After
Numerous things ordered including fibreglass bucket seat, steering wheel, harness, 6 point rollcage, polycarbonate windows, isolator switch, tow straps. Still more to order but already been a very expensive...
Theres no such thing as an MSA approved welder, read the regs- it just has to be done with full penetration (whys that funny?) and generally good welding, no DIY bird s**t welds.
Its something thats been debated a lot as the cage is only as good as the welding holding it together!
For a bolt...
Cheers, ive just came across the fact that 'Superleggera' means super light- so checked the weight of them. 15" is 5.1kg so i think ill keep an eye out for a set of them in 15"!! Saving best part of 4kg a corner of sprung weight!
I know this, thats why im asking. half a kilo more and i would be happy. Tyres, i also know these are more important but who mentioned them? Slicks and 888s/ 048s for your info. Try being a bit more helpful? :nono:
Superb mate, now i can check the weights of aftermarket to see the difference...
Ive got a Clio 172 Cup with the 16" Speedline Turinis. Does anyone know the weight of them?
Much weight to be saved from changing? Im hoping not, id rather keep what i have!
What about the standard 16" 172 wheels? My mate has them on his track car, weight of them?
:race:
Looks great mate. Do you know if the cage is MSA compliant as to pass scrutineering for the SLS?
What price are they in the group buy if still open? I was planning getting a mate who builds stock cars/ cages to build my cage to MSA regs. They arent half specific though!!
Cheers lads, its the spec that made me buy it really.
Fraser, its Meadowbank motors, in Leslie. Where in Glenrothes you from? Your car dedicated track?
