Wierdly enough i went up yesterday to meet a boy for some parts, and for a look- first time in DONKS!
Was lots of cars going up, nobody was really giving it the traditional burn out though, and ground will be freezing so grip will be baws the now.
Id go up for a laugh too, although i think it...
Love these, hate the wheels though. I love them with Mondeo 16s.
Heres my ERST and FRST, LOVED the Escort as it was wild (ZVH 250bhp) and the Fiesta was stunning, but standard slow!
Looks good, wish i had the laid back style of yours- making a small holiday of it. Good plan. Id be going down one night after work and home at daft oclock in the morning stressed out!
Good job your off work, youve a fair list to get through in the next 2 weeks! :)
16" although im on the look out for 15" Superleggeras which id prefer size wise. 16s are pretty close in there until its raised a bit, due to 888s only being available in 195/50/16.
The lap timer and beacon were lying in the garage so i didnt have to buy them, so havent looked into anything else.
It only gives lap number and time as it only has one reference point (the beacon), for sector (saying that in my head like Keith Lemon) you need something with GPS.
Fraser, i...
Cheers Morgan. Garage is my family business, garage/ MOT station. Helps when im a mechanic/ MOT tester.
Lap timer is just battery powered and has a pick up i have ran round to the passenger rear on the rollcage pointing out the window to pick up a beacon.
I have a beacon, but im hoping...
Theyre all heavy wires though?
its the FIA one with four smaller spade terminals on it numbered 1 & 2.
Already have 1 (i think) wired from engine side live to the resistor for alternator winding down.
The other i need to put a live through, that when cut will kill the engine..
Ive fitted my battery isolator but need to find the ECU feed wire to wire through it so it cuts out as it needs to.
Anyone who has one wired, what have you done?
Plumbed in fire extinguisher fitted (time consuming- and needed longer cable than supplied), battery isolator fitted (ign wire still needs found!), rear brakes stripped, cleaned & lubed. Grip tape fitted to floorwell.
Wheels away to get powdercoated (what colour suit it best?) then new 888s...
Re: Road/Track 172
Impressive figures, only 3 places left on TS trackday! Youre right, theres a KH one the following Saturday too. Im booked up for TS one and providing it survives ill do the following week too. Lol
Just read through this thread as im currently messing with camber on my Clio, in absolute shock as to the advise given by Fred@BTM considering you claim to set-up race cars yet dont understand the basic way a camber bolt works.
Im glad underdog has already corrected you and hopefully stopped...
Id use 5 speed box and cable clutch, plenty people use them with high power and heavier cars.
Youve seen Andys thread, he used AGU and AUM, both cheap engines to buy, and he ran 370bhp through 5 speed.
As said twice now, the conversion costs are to get it in and running, before any power...
Lol why would i buy a 210/225 engine if im tuning anyway? You can buy engines for £300 complete because theyre everywhere. Same power outcome once tuned.
The CONVERSION costs, i.e whats required to get the engine in and running?? The tuning is seperate.
mounts are made yourself and cost...
I said the standalone would be most expensive part of the conversion, which is getting the engine in and running. Wouldnt you agree? If not, please expand?
Started on the front suspension and brakes. Got one side done, other side tomorrow!
Fitted Brembo Max discs, CL RC5+ pads, Powerflex inner bushes, new ball joint and track rod end. Gave everything a clean and free off to make for easy adjustments and for when it gets set-up, and a quick paint...
Cheers, im actually getting Tim Sleigh who runs 5 (of the top) minis at Knockhill to set it up and corner weight it now. But good to know anyway.
It will be working hard alright, what rear camber then, 1 degree? Ill purchase shims just now.
