Awesome.
A deeper front splitter might be a practical start, and have a reasonable chance of being successful (ie, providing a benefit and not just causing drag) while remaining street legal.
They have a front splitter and rear spoiler, and a flat front undertray -- that's about all that can be done with the packaging. The factory spent a lot of time reducing drag around the mirrors and wheels for the production models: increasing the track and sticking the wheels out of the guards...
An article about an intercooler bonnet scoop that didn’t work

Aero is not intuitive. A witches hat has less drag with the pointy part facing backwards...

Get something like the Parrot Mki9000 handsfree, keep the stock head unit for radio and CD, the Parrot plays phone calls, maps and music through the speakers using bluetooth. Pretty easy to install.
K&N reckon the filter performs best when it's dirty -- I guess a layer of dirt helps trap smaller particles.
I have a K&N panel in one 172 and a Ram Air panel in the other 172, both stock boxes. I have no doubt they restrict flow less than the stock paper filter (I have tested and measured) but...
This is the 172/182? There are 4 mounts: the one under the battery (and the battery tray itself is part of the mount, it can break), the dog bone under the car, the mount near the accessory belt that's the most obvious, and another under the gearbox at the front -- this usually lasts a long...
Early 172s without ESP don’t have the wiring. That extra socket is probably for the halogen headlight level control.
ESP cannot be retrofitted without a lot of effort, the ECU is different plus there is a yaw sensor and different squib with steering wheel angle sensor too. None of the wiring...
The early 172s don’t have ESP so there will not be wiring for the ESP switch. There should be a plug for the cruise control. You need a cruise control switch. Plug the switch in, turn the ignition n and off a couple of times and the dash should display SET - - - -.
If it doesn’t shot SET then...
The most expensive item is the squib (clock spring) behind the steering wheel. It needs to have an extra connection for the cc buttons.
Buy new or get one from a wrecked 182.
The cc buttons can be fitted to a 172 steering wheel. The airbag needs to have two small pieces cut out for the...
I’ve only ever seen felt. Was hoping the came in plastic because they may be a bit more durable particularly the acoustic value pipe which gets squashed and moved about a lot being next to the battery and near the headlight.
The hole on the bottom of the stock box used a felt pipe that goes under the box to the front and then draws air from behind the headlight -- where the cold air is. Definitely want to get something similar in place.
The second intake uses another felt pipe that goes down to the left front wheel...
Love your Phase 1s. We only got 85 172 Phase 1s in Australia (and no other the of Phase 1) so they are pretty rare and are becoming more appreciated. :)
