Can anyone point me to the name of the colour/paint code/somewhere to get matching paint from for the silver grab handles and centre dash bit of a Mk1 V6 (or 172 as they're the same). Looking to respray the grab handle as it's gone manky.

It'll be the switch. Sticks out the top of the gearbox, green connector going into it. Remove engine covers, lean in (from the back of the car) and look down the left side - it's just there. Easy to replace, just unscrews#, about £15 inc post from SG Motorsport. Common fault apparently.

Cheers all :)
Re: the quality, they're reduced for putting online because the images straight off the cam are massive hehe! Fuji S5600 on auto mode - I was gonna play with the settings, but it was bloody freezing hehe ;) And I've just noticed the quality was on normal, not fine heh - d'oh...
Went to my mate Chris' today to clean to Vee. Firstly, got the old pressure washer out and got the thick crap off, and blasted the arches. Then washed with Megs Gold Class shampoo, Autoglym Clean Wheels on the wheels, dried, clayed with Megs Smooth Surface clay kit (never clayed a car before...
Hah if you were a guy and posted this question imagine the amount of abuse you'd have got hehe! :D
Lime green, black wheels/side stripes/mirror bases for me :p

Just to upset some of the haters - Evo quote the Mk1 V6 as doing 60 in 5.8 and the Mk2 as also doing 60 in 5.8 ;) Extra weight of the Mk2, and power made further up the rev range (peak torque 1.2krpm higher, peak power at 7,250rpm as opposed to 6,000rpm of the Mk1) maybe cancels out that extra...
Ali - been a pikey Mk1 owner I don't have the plastic grills :) Mesh for me. I'll be having me some of that Autoglym Bumper stuff then! Cheers guys :)

Ha, they've changed the photos on that auction. It's been rolled, every single panel needs replacing and it need's re-shelling as the roof and A-pillars are foooooked.
Dan
I've tried a few of these, and they never seem to work for more than about a day. Is there one which is actually any good? Someone today told me black shoe polish (proper wax stuff not bottled liquid) is the best and last the longest - is that worth a shot? It's only for my mirror bases and...
Surprised the holy-than-thou crowd haven't arrived yet to preach about how they never make mistakes and stuff hehe :D
Good you're ok mate :) It's only a car at the end of the day, just metal and plastic - the fact you're ok is all that really matters. It's insured and can be replaced :)...
It's a scam, it's always a scam. Ignore all emails, anyone that really wants it will phone. Anyone that can't be bothered to phone isn't worth dealing with.

I've never in my life been asked by an insurance company if my car has ever been damaged or repaired, and we never asked where I used to work. That's not to say some companies don't ask of course I suppose!
Dan
I've never seen one (in real life, or online) with the body kit splitting from the panels, or heard that before? But yea, the Mk1 in the wet will not tolerate fools heh. Mind you, neither will the Mk2. Both are short wheel based, mid engined, RWD cars with a whole load of torque heh. Just...
When I was looking about 8 months back - the £10k ones reflected the fact they were at the bottom end of the price range. Lots of crap paint repairs, mainly imports (any with a number higher than 500 is an import is the easiest way to tell) without the tracker/window etchings and poorly carried...
Yea but that was a cup, he's lookking at FF, with to be fair over a grands worth of options.
None of it is standard on the Cup - although the paint is slightly cheaper.
It's FF with Cup Packs and other options he's looking at.
Dan
I'll have some of that when you're finished smoking it ;)
The fact they really obviously did the damage around the washer, and as such took no care in working on the car is more than enough to warrant the replies in thread IMHO - it went in unmarked, it should've come out unmarked. End.
