Great vid. Really impressed by the type R considering how pants it's supposed to be. You can see how much fun the 200 is to drive. And although i love the sound both engines (200 + type-r ) make it always impresses me the way the type R's lump just flies up the rev range with absolutely no...
Looks fine to me for what's expected of it. Looks worse than it probably is if you run a finger over it. Smooth it out if you like it will probably make very little difference. It's port shape, size, valve seat angles, shrouding etc you need to worry about. Finish is at the end of the list. Last...
Still waiting for android 2.3.5 and HTC sense 3 for my Desire S on Three so i'm not suprised it won't be coming to the desire phones even if it would run. To be honest though i've just got the phone the way i want it and i'm now worried an update might balls all that up.
Hmm.....
My dads doing about 15k a year in his. He uses it to go to and from work everyday. I suggested it as a replacement for our track car and his day car to save time and money so i'm glad he likes it. He uses his wife's focus on weekends though as they find the clio a little hard around town. He...
It all works fine but the clio's ecu is a little bit slow. Worked well enough to use a shiftlight app i bought for 60p at a recent sprint which also worked brilliantly.
Springs are fine. It only happens when on full lock and doing full u-turns so we've decided not to worry about it. If it happens more often then we'll consider the washer fix but more likely we'll wait until the top mounts are past it and replace them with solid ones that also solve the washer...
For a 182 to do it's quoted top speed of 138 (in the renualt literature) it needs every bit of the 176.4bhp (131.5kw iso 182HP DIN) it's supposed to have if you work it out using the cars frontal area, rolling resistance and drag etc. Most of them don't seem to have that. Evo only managed to get...
I'm assuming he has an ELM327 type one off of ebay. I found a seller on there based in the UK that offers a 2 month repair/refund and 12month repair warranty on them. I'm testing mine on monday on my works van before the clio so i'll post back here if all goes ok. I'm sure someone on here said...
Just wondered if anyone has tried this? Will it work with a clio 182? I've already tried searching the forum but nothing came up.
I'm just looking at it for a bit of fun not as a serious tuning or diagnostic tool. I've already got a performance box so i'm not looking to replace that. A phone...
I'm sure i read somewhere on here that the oil renault use in the cliosport F4r's doesn't allow the rings to bed in particularly well unless you give the engine some stick. I might be imagining it though. I've read so much info on these cars in the last couple of months.
My dad has told me he's getting 41mpg on a 41 mile mixed driving run to work everyday. He's had 47mpg driving more carefully. 75mph on the motorway section and overtaking lorries, slow cars etc on the rural bits. Thats on normal 95 fuel. Higher grade fuel made no difference in fuel consumption...
If your gonna turn the engine over to get rid of it make sure you are sure it's all gone. Engines don't take kindly to having their cylinders filled with liquids that don't compress. A very small amount of water will be burnt up almost instantly when you start the car.
Good quality kitchen towel. Roll a corner into a point and put the point into the liquid. It should suck it up easily enough. Repeat until your satisfied. Takes time but works well.
Doesn't work as well with cheap nasty value towel stuff.
I'm no expert it's just things i found while looking around on the net and my experiences running a B16a for a while.
Cool! I look forward to keeping track on this wee beastie!!
Your going the wrong way! After a CRX vtec which i loved but produced less torque at 7100rpm than the 182 does at less than 2000rpm the 182 feels like it could pull the earth off it's orbit. The mid-range is pretty good compared to other standard 2000cc lumps i've experienced. Unfortunately you...
Here's a nice link on the B16B. I found it when i was looking for stuff on my CRX. When they mean the max limit is upto 8400rpm this is for normal engine life. eg. 120,000+miles like a guy near my dad who was breaking a 250,000mile b16a car that still ran really well that was standard. It...
Sorry! I'll butt out next time! It does seem though that virtually all the B16's make 10ps more in Japan. Why don't we have 100 octane fuel!? Ah well ignore that i don't want to take this thread off topic.
If your tuning a B16 it's alway good to look at what honda did to the B16B to make it...
I don't like the headlights but that shouldn't be enough to put people off. It's easy enough to find a standard pair and sell the others on if you don't like them.
Always used to work well on the old CVH. If you ported the head, didn't go nuts on the port size and kept the standard cam it turned into a little torque monster. Well for an N/A 1.6 anyway. I ended up with the standard cars torque at 2000rpm instead of 4000rpm and 20lbs/ft more at the old cars...
I'll be interested to see it. I've seen some CFM's for modified heads and the best gains seem to be at mid valve lifts so i would like to see how that changes the way the engine makes it power.
Thanks but i won't bother them directly as i have no plans to tune my car and don't want to take up anyones time. I just have a need to know these things. If they happen to post then great if not then no worries :)
I just came across it and thought it seemed too interesting to leave unfinished. The search function isn't brilliant but it's the same on all forums so you always find things you weren't necessarily looking for.
Re: Archived Post from old forum
Sorry to revive a really old thread but did disconnecting the VVT (or better idle and call a stop to the fun VVT as it seems to be) make any difference to the top end? Is the standard mapping able to cope with the cam still being on above 6500rpm or did renault...
Agree it's not the prettiest thing but that's a bargain compared to what it probably cost to build if your into that sort of thing. Personally i'd rather have both my hands amputated than fork out 6 grand for that.
Not that it really matters but 172 ps is 169.64 hp. The 172 is a din hp rating as listed in renaults literature for the car. The other figure for the 172 is 124 KW (iso) which is 166.278 hp.
182 hp is 179.51 ps. 131.5 kw (listed in 2005 renault brochure) is 176.34 hp. I read somewhere that...
