S1 box is one on its own. It's gearing is the same as the xr3i with a fractionally lower final drive. Only the rs1800 box and later xr2 boxes have gearing that doesn't have the old 4 speed ratios with a 5th stuck on the end.
S2 box should have 3.82 final drive but not particularly brillant...
Luckily there has been a fair bit of rain. I did a coombe track day last year when it had been dry for a while and we got drizzle and it was like a skid pan. Lots of people went home it was that bad. Hope the weather sorts itself out for you!
I can ruin tyres if I push the car too hard and my driving loses the smoothness. I usually go as fast as I can while keeping it as smooth and fluid as I can and just see how it goes. We all get a bit excited but it's best to not run the car and yourself at 110 percent for too long as that's when...
Don't be suprised if you get hammered by a lesser car with a better driver. Fast road driving gives you no advantage at a track. The number of so called fast road drivers that turn up at motorsport events with well modded cars and go away empty handed.
Even if you only get 20mins tuition it...
Bad driving will destroy any tyres. With tuition you'll be able to put in fast laps without having to rape your tyres. I always come away with plenty of tread from trackdays and I'm only a reasonable driver. I'll be doing a trackday on p-zero neros tomorrow and I'll have no problems having a...
Bc box bits are usually interchangeable. If your feeling brave it should be a fairly easy job to swap the final drive or move LSD to old box. Gaskets are cheap. Best box is rs1800 fitted with an LSD. No holes in the ratios.
Standing up on the bank above camp corner at combe and hearing an e46 m3 giving it the beans was a noise definitely worth hearing. May have been a csl it was indecently quick! Back on topic is the sierra now a really quick car or is it purely for noise and effortless torque?
11.99 to go on my dads insurance for 3days if I borrow the car over the weekend. I'm 31, no points or accidents. Standard 182 insured with Liverpool Victoria. Was happy when I found out as i thought it would be a lot more and I would only be driving the car at track days and sprints etc. Which...
Used to have a 7.0l ac cobra replica in the car club I do sprints with I can imagine the chest rattling volume! Was always worth a trip to the start line to hear it launch and catapult up the first straight! Similarly a vtec lump with a good exhaust used to make all the right noises down the...
Cool! Using the xr8 as a guide or from scratch?
I love the sound of a v8 but I also really miss the sound of a b16 being wrung round a track with me being the one poking it into the happy zone!
I passed at just under 100db with an Ashley system on my XR2. It was so loud people would crap their pants and move over if i touched the throttle on dual carriageways. Made me feel like a tool so i changed to a janspeed which came out at 96db. It's ususally tested at 2/3rds of full revs so give...
I ran an XR2 with a full cage, buckets and harnesses. It was a track only car so We ran in modified so had an msa guy round to check the car and gives us a log book. He was completely satisfied the car was safe.
Every single f**king event we did we were told buy a different scrutineer that we...
I'll always regret selling my xr2. I'm attached to my 106 because it's served it's purpose of providing ultra cheap transport so I could clear debts flawlessly. It would be cruel to scrap it now! I keep cars too long and get attached that's my trouble.
I bought a 20 year old immaculate xr2 not a mark on it. Parked in the middle of nowhere in a huge car park and when I came back I had three dents along the crease on the door. I could have cried. I know how much this sucks.
I put some cheapo comma 75w80 in my 106 this weekend was almost instantly better than what was in previously. Seems that how slippery the oil is varies a lot even within the thickness gradings. Said for some Peugeot/citroen gearboxes on bottle and was closest I could get to recommended total...
Nowt wrong with the ecotec. Makes better torque than the red top just not the choice for ultimate power. That car is awesome though. Why did I never build something like that.
I find that sort of damage hard to believe from the standard cars map. Maybe from an aggressive remap that has a smaller safety margin by being on the brink all the time.
Should have got my dad to do one of these tables as he only uses his car too and from work. Same journey 5 days a week...
Nice work! Could it be argued that your car has now loosened up? I didn't need convincing anyway as i was running older hot hatches with timing you had to adjust with a spanner when changing fuels. If the 200's knock sensor is retarding the timing as often as my cars used to pink if i didn't...
The problem is that accident repair centres charge ridiculous amounts to do any work. Although the cost of the parts wouldn't be too bad the cost of them plus the time for a normal garage to do them is probably more than the cars worth and then you add the repair centre "premium" on top....

PS2 + GT4 and GT4 wheel I was 1 second a lap faster the next season. I'm not joking! Driving Sims can have some benefits but no they are nothing like real life. I just found that my inputs and consistency improved. That GT4 wheel is fecking sensitive. would love to upgrade to the current ones.
