end of the day mate. its your car. sure there arent many left now, and getting fewer by the year. but the car is only a production model that will suit the general public. if u want a stiffer , more bone jarring ride..........go for it, whack some coilies on. they do enhance the handling...
i wouldnt worry bout it tbh mate. not really into the bling underbonnet stuff meself tbh, i mean who sees it wen ur driving it....these cars are for just that after all. ;)
i have coilovers, cams, remapped ecu, stripped, buckets etc in mine. well in 0051. drove it to spa last year...

best sleeper iv seen tbh is a boggo lookin mk3 scort, steels, pea shooter zorst etc etc. only giveaway was the wheels protruding ever so slightly from the arches, this was due to the cossie floorpan and running gear. was rapid. met blue, 1.3 pop badges n evrything.

mine had the injectors quite a bit further forward than std hole for em in the head. redline at 8 ish i think. the dodgy webber ecu was giving dodgy readout for the rev counter, was only reading 1/2 , had it to 4.5 but it didnt...

14.0s with full car .no lightening, and mild cams/remapped ecu. the car was untouchable by most tuners efforts even when they were in a lighter trim/higher spec. as u know , it was the 1 to beat for many years.

iv built engines on the back street that the tuners have struggled to match performance of tho tbh. spec for spec. like i said..its not rocket science.

used to be one of the easist mods to do on me old minis. bin the std mani, whack an lcb on with seperate inlet and match the head/mani ports up...

bit of an update. changed venues for a while, they run their own comp. here, his 2nd attempt at the intermediate track, apparently usually takes em 8-9 weeks to advance to advanced. wel see how he goes there. lol

yes the williams was included in the best drivers car of all time by evo mag, was the teg there...
btw. the cam car here was craggy in his freak of a vts. 14.5s 1/4 miles.as standard lol well reknowned as the quickest one around.. it had a dog box in here tho with slightly shorter ratios making it slightly quicker. hed been chasing the teg for quite a few laps.
