I think the bearing is only available with the clutch kit. Its nothing to worry about really, a lot of them do it. Just replace it when/if you ever replace the clutch.
He probably was feeling a bit guilty for leaving his brick in the middle of the road. :clown:
On a more serious note it shouldnt be too hard to fix, need a new 2nd hand sump, a new gasket and some oil.
Thanks matt. I thought an itg would filter better after cleaning one once in petrol and seeing all the crap come out of it. I could be wrong though as never attempted to clean a paper filter.
I doubt it will be the shock mounts. Sounds like something is possibly bent somewhere or the steering rack is nackered. If you turn the wheel at a stand still is there any play then. Best to get it on ramps and check for play all along the steering rack.
Push the back down without the handbrake on, and do the test as mentioned above. If youve ever been in a car with nackered shocks it will feal very unsettled going over bumps. Chances are the knocking is something else like the exhaust or even the trailing arm bushes.
Theres still a benifit to having an itg. Its cleanable and re-useable where a renault one has to be changed at each service. Its also does a better job of filtering the air.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. I know there are 2 different cambelt kits, later Clio sports had a different tensioner that had a thicker/stronger bolt holding it on hence the different part number.
Also somethimes Renault will change part suppliers or remanufacture different parts to a...
As above chances are its the idler on the aux belt. Its fairly easy to change. The idler is the lowest down part of the aux belt and is a bit exposed to the elements. Failing that get them to check the water pump and power steering pump.
