Cheers guys
I won't rent a lens as I'm probably too late and would like to test out the tammy.
Focus wise, I take it settings should be AF continuous? What about focus tracking?
recommended burst rate?
I am a complete noob when it comes to anything that moves so don't be afraid to offer...
Guys I may get the chance to snap at RIAT this year but know very little about air show photography. I'll be fine with the statics but would love some tips for shots in the air as moving subjects, well i've never tried them :o
The only suitable lens I will have at my disposal is the Tamron...
well the canon 17-55 is a very sharp lens and f2.8 throughout. If thats too expensive the tamron 17-50 f2.8 will offer 95% of its performance for half its price.
Love the last shot, whilst a fifty is great for portraits on aps-c it's a little too long for general shots as you have cropped the edges of things like boats and the tops of tents. Do you have the kit lens? Often great for travel.
I have lenses that cover 10-300 mm. If I were to be looking for a new lens which overlapped that range it would need to offer something else such as better quality, larger aperture or even reduced size but I wouldn't buy a new lens purely to save me a lens change.
My advice is sell both your...
Personally i see little point in swapping one cheap kit lens for another. Maybe a superzoom such as the tamron 18-270 would be good. If you dont like swapping lenses and image quality isnt that important to you, then a superzoom compact camera could be a viable option.
neither mate they wont offer anything more than your kit lenses apart from saving you a few lens swaps. For that money or a little more you could get the excellent Tamron 17-50 2.8
Yes mate the bulbous front end sticks out too much. If it were me I would go for the 11-16, although that extra 3mm is actually significant at this focal length.
TBH the sigma 10-20 would be my choice. Or the Canon 10-22 (you are Canon?)
11mm (Tokina) on a Canon (1.6 crop factor) gives an...
This is HDR
basically I love purple/blue skies in my night photography. Usually due to light pollution/colour casts/dusk. I think a night photo with a black sky is a little uninspiring.
If your camera exposes normally you will get a dark sky and a reasonable exposure on the subject but with...
I have to agree with the constructive parts of Sams post, the portraits have that kind of 'dirty' processing which really works for some pictures but I don't think it works in this instance for portraits of youngsters.
A lot of my night photography is HDR. No one notices as its so subtle! Just enough to preserve some highlight detail. Agree that 99% of the time HDR is gash.
I wouldn't take an S3 or a note on a night out.
I have a note, just upgraded to ICS, its great for 'me' as my main priority was screen size as it doubles up as a mini tablet, I would concede they aren't for everyone!
Well if budgets not an issue I would go for a 'Lee' system.
Hopefully with the advance of sensor technology and dynamic range they won't 'need' to last a life time!
