I've also been looking at cheap impact wrenches, I only have the occasional need, but it would be nice if I could get a reasonably priced gun with some grunt....
I've spotted this 3/8" gun which quotes 320nm torque. Advantage is the size and lithium battery. Might need a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter...
When I replaced my alternator for the second time in as many weeks (boring story :rage::smile:), because the tensioner and belt were new, I didn’t bother with the jubilee clip trick, I just undid the bolts on the alternator to release the tension on the belt, and then levered the new alternator...
Frankly, I don't know how my car is still going! Engine makes funny noises, gearbox whines, occasional crunch into 4th, and it spends it's life bouncing off the limiter :grinning:. The new shafts will prob hold it all together .
J&R seem to sell from their website too, (http://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/renault-clio-2.0-petrol-2003/catalogue/drive-shafts-509)unless I’ve misunderstood your post, which is quite likely 🙈. Does anyone know why there is one shaft priced at £29.95 in this link?
Soz to gatecrash...
I do know they get clogged up with grime and dust and all sorts of cr@p, so you may want to give it a clean anyway, to make sure it’s working properly .
I don’t know. If no-one gets back to you with an answer, I’ll happily unplug mine when I next drive my car (it’s parked away from my home, so I can’t just nip out and try I’m afraid :pensive:).
When I fitted Sportlines I had the same concern, but I think it’s normal.....

I replaced my belt and alternator about a month ago, but the bearings on the replacement alternator were duff so had to do it again.
This time, rightly or wrongly (:grimacing:), I replaced the alternator without compressing the tensioner spring, I just carefully undid the bolts fixing the...
Pretty certain it's 7 litres! I've done mine twice now and only managed to squeeze in about 5 1/2 litres to start with, then the level dropped after driving a couple hundred miles (presumably due to airlocks).
On a serious note, after flushing through I blew through the hoses to ensure as much water was out as possible, yet still only manages to get 6 litres back in....
Are you after the 75amp version? £136 here, free delivery with c.netfree code too....

Am I OK to run diluted Renault Type D coolant (which I salvaged when I emptied the system) for a day or two whilst ensuring I have no leaks? I have had to replace coolant hoses with a used set and I don't want to waste 5 litres of coolant if there's a problem with these used hoses. Of course...
Part numbers if you want new fuel rail guard nuts/bolts....

Disappointing you haven't cleaned under the top mount caps btw
'Twas the alternator.
Because of my other issue with the car I risked a used alternator rather than forking out big money. Seems to work a treat .
Thanks for people's advice btw .
