    Newbie to Clio from Kent

Welcome to the club. You will find lots of helpful members on here, like Joe aka T5phy. They are all very happy to aid you in any way they can. Kent is a nice area too.

    Oil paint on leather seats

Separate system unfortunately. This system is just as good if not better when you are gunning it, but for 2-3k gear changes, it really lurches. You almost have to catch it pre change and take your foot off the right pedal for a few seconds.

    first time machine polishing...

That makes three of us... For Clio paint, try the Sonus pads. I take it you already have a machine? If so, look on I4Detailing at the Sonus SFX pads and Menzerna polishes. I would suggest for the Clio you go with a small bottle of 85RE (Final Finish) and 3.02 (Intensive Polish). The 85 should...

What's the best shamy to buy

As long as you pat dry, yes. If not, they are colapsed cell structure, so you need to be very careful. If you drag them across the surface, they will do as much damage as a chamois. I personally prefer these; http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalog/I4D_Uber_Premium_Drying_Towel_1.html

    Oil paint on leather seats

Yeah pretty rubbish to be honest. Really jerky when changing gear, even with a few software upgrades. Porsche being onboard now, they've taken a leaf out of their book and gone with an "S tronic" for the future versions.

    removing tar

Why am I not surprised, coming from a Corsa driver. Tardis followed by claying. Otherwise your clay will come out black and you are likely to have rubbed bits of clay all over your paint work. Spray Tardis (or ITR if you've already bought it) over the panel (all panels below the window line...

Polishing/waxing glass with the same products used on rest of car

Waxing the windows will help rain run off. However, some people have experienced issues with waxes clouding the windscreen, which is obviously not something you want. There are therefore, as mentioned, specific window sealants. With regards to polishing, no you won't be able to hand polish the...
