Not saying you cant make a profit etc, but that company had to be selling them at some sort of profit (unless they are a bit mad and use it as a tax write off for another business), so is it Brembo themselves being a bit naughty with price fixing etc?
I dont wish to start an argument, its just...
What happens when they 'fail' ? total disintegration, or just fixed timing one way or the other, or variable timing depending how it feels all the time?
So again, what happens if you block the feed and returns of a std setup and fit a fixed pulley at 'normal' position and then run on the OEM...
I'm running TR oil at the moment and its much smoother than whatever dog turd was in there before.
Will be doing a change to Bardahl oil very soon as I got a great price for it and believe the data sheet/test results.
Depends if the inside lip of the centre bore gives the steel rim extra strength.... I looked at getting 15" GM steelies but they need the centre machining out and it would take too much off the inner lip to cause a possible weakness :(
I guess the catcams pulley(s) are for their own cams and as such dont have the oilways to ***** about with.
Does it matter if you block the feed/returns? does it starve elsewhere of oil?
and I guess nearly as importantly, how much worse is Idle on the fixed timing with std cams.
feck paying what catcams want for an adjustable pulley... I'd look at using an exhaust one with the correct locating pins/slots.
I'm sure blocking the oilway cant be too hard...
Fred/Danny/anyone whos had them apart care to add ;)
iirc the 'VVT' switches at something pitifully low under 2Krpm..... so the altered overlap and timing (the cam dosent get any 'bigger' its not a honda) cant make driveability that bad.
I've run engines with bonkers cams that idle like a dream.
oh really I had utterly no idea......... OF course its for the VVT, but frankly with it running the Idle is shocking anyway so it cnat be much worse on fixed timing surely?
And more talking to myself... Fitted the seat back in, plugged both connectors back in properly and went for a drive with NO SERV/Airbag lights on.... drive the car today and voila, SERV/Airbag lights on :( Does it need resetting with dealer tools or will ebay specials do?
Issue found.
The 'memory' part of the runner is broken so the seat will never/rarely relatch once you've tilted it to get in the back.
New runner required but hey, not the end of the world.
I'm taking the drivers seat out as its not locking in place on both sides and sometimes not even locking at all when the seat has been tilted.
I have the 5 nuts out (inside removal) and got the grey connector undone, but how the feck does the black one under the seat undo? I think its been...
tbh, Narrowband sensors are only any good for Idle and low loadings.... Fitting a proper wideband would be far more beneficial, plus if the software is any good you can set target AFR's to nearly self tune :)
mild drift, Gardner, which ren dealership do you work at? I need the bonnet catch rework doing lol.
I'd make a guess that the idle controller isnt needed as you sort of manually set that with TB's and (I would hope) the ph2onwards 1*2's dont have an idle valve either due to the ETB doing that...
I love the concept of megasquirt, but I loathe its current implementation.... lost of non automotive grade parts, lots of un-necessarily out of date components and protocols etc.
My plan is to start small and redesign it to include ETB control and a few other bits and pieces that would make...
