Sorry took a while, this is what I used - I used quite a bit of it in short bursts, both sides of the fork and the cable at that end for good measure, this stuff is super sticky so wasnt too worried about it running down on to the friction plates

You buy stuff which I think is called coach tape? Have used it myself but you do have to spend ages cutting little bits to shape

Sounds like wiring, one power lead is constant and one comes on with the ignition, check their both connected, if they are then try swapping them Red and yellow IIRC?
