Take the wheels off an look for marks to see where it's rubbing
There was a couple of bits on mine that rubbed the inner wall of the tyre, bashed them in with a hammer, sorted!
I used 2 washers, 1mm each (I think) and that works fine just presses on the carpet a little (cup carpet possibly thinner IIRC?)
I might not bother but if I was to remove them in a few weeks the carpet would be slightly squished making sliding with no runners easier I think, so stepping it...
No ones saying it's amazing guys but considering the minimal amount of effort and the noticeable difference it makes it's worth it.
Anyone who has done this regret it? Iv only heard good things (other than people not using washers and struggling to move the seats)
Actually makes quite a difference mate, it's a tried and rated method on here
OP I just did mine yesterday it's easy takes about 20 minutes, there's a guide with photos on here.
If you use a couple of washers then the seat still slides no problem
I followed jinjur's guide, used a liberal amount of motorcycle chain grease, that was about 15k ago and I havent heard a peep yet, even if you had to do it more often though it's hardly a big job.
I used quite a lot of grease, took the cable off and pushed the lever over for one side and...
There are 2 bulbs one each side it would be odd for both to go at the same time, was one side previously brighter? I'd be thinking loose connection if not
I think the only way to get to it is by removing the top dash, torque screws behind the dash strips, then pull it back and up
What am I not listening to mate? They are (according to them) selling genuine reconditioned parts, 65 ish plus VAT each
My question is wether or not ABS ring equipped shafts will fit my cup, and im all ears for an answer bud :)
So the full fat 172 will not fit my 172 cup?
Is the lack of cup shafts due to the safety thing I read about on here somewhere?
If the FF won't fit I guess il get my own recon'd, or look out for low mileage second handers
They are offering recon'd genuine, 2 years guarantee.
Just unsure if the ABS ring will be an issue? Alternatively they can recon my own but including postage that would take 3 days :-/
Am looking for a pair for cup, the factors I went to list them as different for phase1/phase2 which I expected but show no difference for the cup model, the book did say ABS though.
So will these fit do you think? Presumably I can knock off the ABS ring as that's the only (I think) difference...
if the main problem at the moment is the creak then do a search it's fairly common, theres an easy fix guide which is basically spraying some grease into the hole behind the rubber grommet where the clutch lever goes in, did mine 6 months or so back and no problems since :)
Ah your a few hours to late I just picked some seats up! Just the seats though so still don't know about the doorcards il pop a pic up tomoro cheers mate :)
Am fitting these tomoro I dont suppose you know about the airbag wiring do ya? I'm hoping it's just plug and play, if it's looking...
Suspension geometry IS complicated though lol!
Just get them set up for the best mixture of both if I was you mate, well actually if I was you you'd be me and prefer the standard set up :P
Am looking to change from my ugly 172 cup seats to some (by comparison) plush FF half leather seats, couple of questions for any knowledgable CS sod-
Is the doorcards trim different in a full fat? Ie would I need to replace my cup doorcards for the trim to match?
If I left them in would the...
I think it would be ok as I believe the rear shocks fitment is the same across the range, but hopefully someone that knows for sure will answer :)
On another note I have a pair of raceland rear shocks off a 172 cup which il be selling, so If they turn out the same fitment you might want them?
Well it's just my opinion mate other people will tell you they're great probably, for the price you wouldn't lose much to buy and try for a while then sell on if you don't like, just keep a hold of your standard gear ;)
