Drumming up a bit of interest here as well - for those Scottish peeps who would be up for a wee get-together this Sunday coming
Details in the Meeting Forum...
Rich - my thoughts exactly...especially given that I change the oil at least every 7.5k anyway.
Think this could be a bit of a money spinner for garages - uneducated punter "Engine flush? Oh yeah, better have some of that!" Garage - "Excellent - another £30 towards the Xmas night out!"
Call...
Just booked my Cup in for its 12k service - apparently the reason this dealer is £30 more expensive than others is that they do an oil and fuel flush as part of the service?
Anyone else came across this procedure at a service? Is it required and/or desirable?
Ta :)
PS They quoted £190 for...
Been phoning a couple of garages myself for quotes - some of them are still insisting that my car needs serviced every 18,000 miles, not every 12,000. Muppets!
For anyone else who isnt sure - Clio 172 and 172 Cups require serviced every 12,000 miles - are you listening Service...
Mac - that might have been me. I work in Stirling..but its a K-Tec Ive got on the Cup (twin pipes). Small plate on the front and ClioSport sticker in the rear window if that helps narrow it down. Quite happy to take you for a spin if that helps make up your mind :)
You two still going up to Knockhill for the Hot Marques tonight?
If so, Ill see you up there - give me a bell on the mobile. Remember and bring your camera so we can do some "RSport ECU vs Standard & Exhaust comparisons" ;)
Mac - Speak to Marc (regional organiser for Scotland person) who IIRC had exactly the same problem with his and was in Renault Edinburgh to get fixed. Cant remember what the outcome was though...
Soz Phil,
The reason I was getting a good deal was due to the fact they were the last 4 in the shop - hes not got anymore left now (it was the gto525e I got which were the previous models but looked exactly the same).
Cheers
Renault ones are about £36+VAT IIRC - trying to remember how much the stealer robbed me of when I bought mine...
Better fit and finish than the aftermarket ones though.
Excellent - all 4 fitted in less than an hour this evening :)
Must be some kind of record for me - managed not to stab myself, blow anything up or generally feck it!
Rich - can you remember which colour was positive/negative in your car?
Im doing some fitting of my own this evening and it would be handy just in case I forget and disconnect the wires without taking note! I take it the JBLs fit straight in? No fiddling about/cutting plastic etc required...
GirlRacer - why dont you take it for a wee drive and then make up your mind? From my viewpoint, it still looks a lovely wee beastie and Im sure youd get lots of pleasure from it - its the kind of car you buy with your heart anyway, so try not to over analyse the whys and wherefores - if you like...
Ive got TomTom Navigator 2 running on my iPAQ and am very happy with it - detail is fine and compares favourably with manufacturer SatNav. It has far greater flexibility than manufacturers SatNav though - the options and ability to customise, as well as add in overlays for speed cameras...
A panel filter might give a couple of bhp, nothing spectacular. Youll find lots of posts on the subject of getting more bhp from the 172 mill on here - have a swatch.
In essence, its not the easiest of engines to extract more horses from, mainly due to the lack of development work thats been...
Youll still pay upwards of £300 for a GPS based speed camera detector a la Road Angel etc - the iPAQ does this, plus the whole SatNav thing, and most of the stuff your PC will do into the bargain - email, play MP3s and video, browse the web etc.
Its also portable unlike built in SatNav...
