    Yeah behind the glove box. It's bracketed on but comes out easily enough. Bracket bolts are accessed via the fuse box in the side of the dash. You can unplug without removing the UCH though iirc

    There is a black and a white plug that goes into it. Unclip them. Can't remember which is the power plug, but do both to be sure :)

    Do insurance companies know what extras come on each car from the factory though... If its oem stuff would they know it was fitted after leaving the dealers?

    If you mean fully strip it, use silicon grease on the spring. Wd or brake cleaner will be ok for cleaning
