The Williams back box is the same as the 16valve one. Euro Car Parts sell them for £25 + vat I think or about £115 + vat from renault (honnestly). The centre section on Williams is different though and is only availiable from Renault at £67 +VAT. Im saving my pennies and will be going...
Get him to put it through an MOT before you buy or even ask if you can put it through yourself, if it fails on just the above then sounds like a reasnoble price. At least that way it shouldnt have too many hidden extras and you know what you have to do to make it roadworthy. Idling sounds like...
Just renewed mine, directline/tesco were best for just me at £990 but admiral/elephant went down from £1100 to £800 by putting my girlfriend (same age) on! Thats 23 2 years ncb fully comp 10k miles on a Williams, so if you can get your mum etc on as a named driver should be a bit cheaper for a...
Haywood and Scott wanted £450 + vat for an equal length tubular manifold. Standard one seems pretty good though 4-1 is meant to give better top end over the 4-2-1 which is more for mid range to overcome the valvers shorter stroke. I got the quote because when I had a look at a cup the exhaust...
Mines going up for sale in september when the Mot is due (ie selling with 12 months not 1). Williams 1 66k FSH £5000 ono. PM if you want photos etc. Cheers,
John
Its being replaced by a 405, trailer, national b license and a XR2.
lucky I hadnt been to glasgow recently or might have difficulties explaining it to my girlfriend!
Had to write a sentence including the phrase my girlfriend...
Not quite the same but tried to get a motorbike quote at work typing http://www.bennetts.co.ukwww.bennetts.co.uk for a quote but missed off a t and http://www.bennets.co.ukwww.bennets.co.uk popped up instead. Got some funny looks...
Golf mk2 gti 8v. Super slow rack + loads of body roll = lame in twistys. Economical and reliable though with nice feedback. The Metro 1.1s that preceded it was a much better drivers car imho.
Sack K tec off. Ring Ian at Euro Parts for 5 tuning, hmmmmmmmmm stainless liners. Plus he has a very nice R1. Not sure he does much buisness by post though and is a long way from yours to Stoke. He is the one who did the twin engined 5, 5k would go a long way towards one of them...
lol. Knew someone would say that. But then everyone said that when I was getting my Williams and so far (touchwood) apart from consumerables like tyres and brake pads/front discs all it has let me down on was a broken clutch cable. Evo 2s were made in a different factory and dont rust quite...
Got quoted just under a grand for next year on the williams insurance (23 2yrs no claims garaged in the suburbs 10k miles a year) but £1253 on an integrale evo 2. So so teasing, anyone know any good grale sites?
You could get silver williams style speedlines as an option on the 16v in France. Ive seen a couple out there and they look very nice especially with the original speedline logo on the one spoke. Better than the gold but it would be criminal for me to get the spray can out...
Williams 1s do have leccy windows. There have been loads of detailed threads on this in the past so do a search. Cambelt change is about £200 and should be done well before 70k other than that engines seem pretty strong. Clutch is another expensive one, £400-500. The buying guide on the main...
As I understood it the williams has the same ratios 1-4 but a lower rev limit than the valver. It has a longer 5th as otherwise the low rev limit would give it a lower top speed. The 0-60 time was done in the wet by autocar but isnt any better than the valver cause of the extra gear change...
Mine was meant to be tongue in cheek but there you go (Ive got a nice tarted up shopping trolley myself). Still rate the film all my japanese rubbish loving housemates thought it was rubbish. But they have no soul and think racing in straight lines is fun. That was meant to be tongue in cheek...
Fair dues BenR if he has a 1.4 he must know nothing just like if you talk to someone with a Ferrari you must know nothing with your couple of tarted up shopping trolleys...
Cheers all. Clearly not selling the williams cause what could match it handling wise in the price range but I do want to reduce the noise. If I can get a cheap standard pipe then will give it a go. I put some sound deadening in the boot and it seemed to help a bit might be wishfull thinking...
Is your car boomy on the motorway? Ive got a magnex (came with car) and as nice as it sounds on full throttle I cant take it anymore! I was wondering if it was more down to the lack of sound deadening in the Williams or is it the exhaust or a bit of both? I have replaced the manifold to...
Ive got Tarox 44 groove and they seem fine but I am not doing the number of track days I had planned so they arent being used. Got Tarox pads and they are strong but not much initial bite, probs need a bleed and maybe goodridge hoses. Spent too much money for a road car but am hoping it will...
You should be able to get them fitted for that unless youve got big wheels etc. Ive got some F1s GSD 3. Okay in dry, amazing in the wet, wear seems alright. Might be paranoia and not sure if tyres can do this but although the grip level is higher the car seems to understeer rather than be...
Mate has a 205 turbo diesel great car really rates handling etc cheap insurance very reliable so far touch wood but dont expect 50 mpg the older diesels arent that great more like 40. The zx is same chassis as 306 so great drive but sounds like a tractor. They did some bodykitted ones called a...
Fair dues Shorty you must know nothing about cars if you like good build quality and bought a Renault. Surely your nan could have told you that Renaults fall to bits. Go and buy a golf and then go on http://www.golfgtinet.comwww.golfgtinet.com and moan about how slow it is.
Renault (nottingham) wanted £210 for a minor service (oil change and a bit of a poke around underneath). Most local place will want £60-80ish for the same job. Its not really that specialist a car (its just a clio after all!) and it should be fine with most garages.
