what management is it running on?
i had this problem when i used an old spec chip in a new spec ecu, car used to idle at around 4000rpm. Was only a williams not a turbo, but same symptoms.
Mongoose or Tube Torque (these are like a very upmarket Powerflow), do a search on passionford.com for more info, as there has just been a discussion about which is better Mongoose or Tube Torque!
it will slow the heating up of the oil, because the engine is trying to warm the oil and the cooler is trying to cool it, so it must slow the heating up of the oil down. overcool oil is not a good thing.
if there was a thermostat it wouldnt slow the heating of the oil, it would just stop it...
heres the rest of the pics i tried to put on the other night before my computer started playing up!

adi did u get a thermostat for the oil cooler, so oil is only passes through the cooler when it gets to a certain temp?
or is it piped permanently into the oil line, so it is trying to cool already cool/cold oil at startup etc?
now u mention it, where has nick read gone?
dunno who makes them, but here are some pics of supercharged 16v/williams engines

how long til BenR replies? ;)
id go with the 45mm straight tube, as there is going to be less disturbance to the flow. Done this at college a while back, it involved calculations using Bernoulis law, about turbulant and laminar flow, if i remember al get another post up here.
yeah the 309 was allegedly a better handling car than the 205, and went rather well with the peaky and revvy 16v motor. just wish he had spent a few quid on it and got carbs, cams and a pukka head job!
another mate also had an mi16 engine in his 309 gti, but got sick and wanted a turbo so we swapped it for a 2ltr 8v turbo from a 406 sri, easy swap but not a pleasant looking engine! was quicker than the mi16 tho.

my mates got a 205 mi16 (1.9 block), nice little car it is, especially since its still badged up as 1.6gti, suprises the odd thing or two.

u bought a bb tuning (fastchip) manifold?
t25 turbo by the looks of it too
what u doing about lowering the compression ratio?
engine management?
injectors?
intercooler?
sorry for all the questions, im just really interested :)
all sounds like good stuff, im just slowly making new flanges for my new manifold as and when i can be bothered its cold in the garage this weather!
if u email me the pics i will upload them for you.
By the way what are u actually doing to the engine apart from these new pistons?
